Hey all,
Got home from patrol just in time for my oldest daughter's birthday on the 15th, and have spent a wonderful few days at home with family.
Got a nice Christmas present from my friends at Phoenix Performance who completed repairs to my car while I was gone (pics below). As most of you probably remember, I tried to park my car at Pacific Raceways at about 100 mph last year: 100 mph impact with concrete: Pics and Lessons Learned
Phoenix Performance could have repaired my car sooner, but given I spent all of my 07 racing budget on repairs (and part of my 08 budget) and I deployed twice this year, racing was on the back-burner so I let them focus their attention on other customer cars (which looks like it paid off for them with three SCCA National Championship wins).
Not sure what 08 will bring for me in the way of racing. I deploy in the spring and am scheduled to transfer to shore duty sometime between Aug and Nov. Runoffs are a possibility at this point so my goal for the year is to qualify for the Runoffs and see how my schedule plays out in the fall. There is the minor logistical problem that my car is still sitting on my open air trailer in Philadelphia and I am in Seattle...
I may swap divisions and race in an east coast division and fly out to a few races, keeping my car on the other coast. That's a decision I'll have to make in the next few weeks.
Many thanks to the pros at Phoenix Performance for turning this:
Nice. Kurt and the gang are a first class outfit. We'll look forward to following your `08 campaign regardless of which coast. Wishing you all the best.

Welcome home Brad. Glad to see your well and with the family for the holiday season. Good luck on the racing this coming year. If you get close to the MD, DC, VA area let us know. Take care, Don

I'm really looking forward to getting back on the track, but the Navy is keeping me guessing. After posting this thread, I received indication that I might remain on sea duty until 09 which would change my plans this year from trying to make the Runoffs to keeping my license active and restoring some of my lost seat time (with maybe a heavier emphasis on track days vice races). If that turns out to be true (still pretty fluid at this point), I'll likely get my car back on this coast to give me more flexibility with track days.
We'll see... I'll keep you posted.
P.S. Don, I'm sure I'll be that way again at some point and will check in with you. DC is highly possible for my next assignment, whenever that turns out to be.

Maybe the puzzle palace huh? Ok. Keep in touch. Don
Glad to hear your car is back together! I've been checking your site now and then to see if you got it fixed or replaced. It was heart-breaking to see the pictures of the wreck!
Thanks Randi, I may take you up on that offer some day. I've met several forum members over the years as I've traveled around and always enjoy actually talking to people I feel I already know. My wife really wants to go to Vegas again, so that may draw us there sooner rather than later (maybe this summer?).
Bob,
If I get stationed on the East Coast, which is likely at some point, I'm sure I'll get to Summit Point. Who knows when though...
Don,
The "puzzle palace" is possible, though the Navy Yard is probably just as likely for me. Many jobs at NAVSEA there.
Still haven't figured out my 2008 racing plans. My day job has been keeping me busy...
