We had our twice-a-year event @ the Gainesville test track yesterday, and this was my first track event w/ the new shocks.
The car behaved very well. My main complaint w/ the stock setup was that the car would 'hover' coming out of a sweeper while going into/setting up for a tight corner or transient manuever. Well, the hover did not rear its ugly head, and the car was very stable. The course also had a wickedly fast, decreasing radius, off camber, nearly blind(!) sweeper(4 cars had an 'off' there!) that I was able to run much faster than I had before.
Bottom line: I scored the fast time of the day.
The next nearest car was a supercharged, nearly 300 RWHP(!) miata that has a full race-setup including fat Hoosiers(I run Kuhmos), and only weighs 2200lb. He came in 5th @ Nationals in SM2, in a large class--so he can really drive. I was over 3/10's quicker. The reason I bring up this car is that he beat me by 3/10's for overall FTD @ our last event in Gainesville. Our cars run nearly similar 1/4 mi trap speeds, so I truly believe the newfound stability gave me an extended limit.
FWIW, the next quickest NA ASP Z06s were both abt 1.3 seconds back w/ nearly identical times. I must say that I had the advantage of headers and an intake over them though...
Just thought I'd share...
