Rockey Mountain Racin..!

So the 3 NayKid cars made the trip out over the hills to find the thin air and the fast fossil Bob Schaeder and his new Phoenix hot rod to see what they can do...

We arrived Thursday afternoon and setup for an all day test on Friday. This is a very challenging track with very little room for error and HARD on tires, did I mention this track is FREEKIN hard on tires?!

Having never seen the track before the NayKid cars ran plenty of sessions on Friday and by the end of the day we were able to figure out at least which way the track went but with blind elevation changes and tight corners with no runnoff it is a real challenging hoot!

Bob was having a little exhaust trouble but got it handled for the race and we are steering him onto a new killer TI Corsa system next week for his hot rod.

The Rockey Mountain gang are lookin good with all three cars with matching graphics and driving suits these guys are impressive on and off track!

We invited the Colorado Springs Corvete club to come out and join us for the day to hang with us and enjoy a catered lunch and we even talked the chief steward into a couple parade laps for those who made the trek out to Pueblo Motorsports park. What a great bunch of guys and gals, they helped polished our hot rods and Russ hung out all weekend to help crew with us!

We are now back on V700 KUMHO's while the guys fix up a few QC issues with the 710

As team leaders of our respective team Bob & I made a little freindly bet of dinner for each others team depending on total team points earned in the Saturday race with the losers buying for the others entire crew, and oh yeah... Loser team not only buys dinner, they have to wear the other team's team shirts to dinner

Saturday Qualifying:

NayKid #3 White 1:39.79 New Track Record & o/a pole!
Fossil Gang #12 Schaeder 1:40.88
NayKid #78 Lux 1:41.5
Fossil Gang #67 Ash 1:42.44
Fossil Gang #22 Moran 1:42.74
NayKid #75 Snodgrass 1:44.0

At the start Cindi got a killer jump and blew past Bob into p2 into turn 1 and there began the racelong battle between Bob & Cindi with Cindi leadin the first half the race as managed to stretch out to a 17 second lead at one point mid race. Bob & Cindi battled with Bob finaly getting by sometime mid race. Moran pretty much ran by himself leaving Ash & Snodgrass to duke it out with a couple off track excursions.

Final results:
White 1:40.2 New Track Record!
Schaeder 1:40.69
Lux 1:40.35
Moran 1:42.45
Ash 1:42.34
Snodgrass 1:44.0

NayKid P1, P3, P6 for a total of 23 points
Fossil Gang P2, P4, P5 for a total of 20 points

Boy dinner was good and the Rockey Mountain Gang never looked better than they did in their spanky new NayKid Racing T-shirts! What a great bunch of GREAT Sports!

We'll post pics later...

Gotta do it all over again tomorrow!

Scotty,

It is great that you got the Colorado Springs Club up to see what a Corvette can do on the track!!!!

Hopefully this will encourage others to put theirs on the track rather then sit around polishing thier cars.

Polishing is like foreplay and racing on the track is the real thing!!!

Keep up the good work and maybe, just maybe, folks will realize that the Vette is something more then showing it off at Hooters!!!!

Here is the second part to our weekend story...

Even though we were able to take the checker for Saturday's race, the crafty ol' Fossil (Bob Schaeder) got me on Sunday and I promised to post it here for all to see... But Bob & I ALL got Skirted by Cindi Lux!

Sunday at Pueblo was a hoot and started out with yet another track record falling in qualifying with Lux, White & Schaeder all in under the old record set Saturday by White

Lux 1:38.95
White 1:39.447
Schaeder 1:39.69
Snodgrass 1:42 sumthin
Ash 1:44 sumthin
Moran 1:45 Sumthin

At the drop of the green Lux set sail and never looked back to see Schaeder & I go hammer & tong with GT1 cars. We were tied together for at least 6 laps until Schaeder was able to pull out a lead of a few tenths and so it went for the rest of the race. Bob & I accordianed from a few tenths to a couple seconds with traffic right to the checker and the top 3 cars all ran under the track record.

Unfortunately Chris experienced some type of electrical problem on lap 3 filling his car with smoke and causing a dnf

Ryan really stepped it up for his second race weekend in his new NayKid Hot Rod and was closer to the front than ever dropping over 2 seconds off his Saturday times!

Amedee & Bob switched cars for Sunday but kept the same tires & wheels. Bob was on S04 Hoosiers and only ran 2 abreviated qualifying sessions and the 2 races.

Amedee was on S03's & Chris was on S04's and they both ran the test day and used at least 2 sets of tires (Chris on Victo's for test day)

The NayKid cars were on Victoracers all weekend.

P1 Lux (NayKid/KUMHO/Kodiak Car)New Lap Record 1:39.43
P2 Schaeder (DRM/Hoosier/Kodiak Car) 1:39.69
P3 White (Naykid/KUMHO/Kodiak Car) 1:39.96
P4 Snodgrass (NayKid/KUMHO/Kodiak Car) 1:41.86
P5 Moran (Phoenix/Hoosier/Fikse Car) 1:44.89
P6 (dnf) Ash (McGhee/Hoosier/CCW Car) 1:45.4

Congrats to Cindi, none of us had anything for her on Sunday she was FLAWLESS! AND, she came away with BOTH Qualifying & Race lap records!

We did miss having our new 710 tire but I guess this ol' Victoracer aint dead yet...

Look out for Ryan by Sprints, this guy is comin...

The weather was fantastic except for the wind which howelled all day Sunday to the point where we had a very nerve wracking time (and somewhat dangerous) taking down our awning even though we had 10 people working on it and our own aerodynamisist (sp? Will Vasser) helping us decide how to go about it It was scary as hell with a steady breeze of about 40 knots and gusting even higher! We got it down with only 1 rip, a couple cut straps & 1 bent pole. If we never have to do that again it will be too soon...

It was a great time and the hospitality of the RM Region was fantastic, we were treated very well! We got to see Tommy (aqua joe's bro) and now we can see why the Pensylvania gang treks all the way out there every year. What a fun track!

The Rockey Mountain gang are a class act, witty as hell and fun to hang with and when the green flag drops it's time to rock & roll these guys get it on with no whining. We raced close enough to smash a pack of cigarettes between us lap after lap with no favors given but no banging either, truly a great bunch of guys and great sports to say the least

To borrow a line from Pappa Joe, "Is T1 Racing the BEST, or What?!?"
