Well I would be willing to work out a track day for the boys here. But you didn't seem to get any takers
Ron Drove a fine race in the Cadillac CTSv at Mosport in the World Challenge race. Ron won, and I finished second. Cadillac needs to win the manufacturers championship this year very badly. During the race, the announcers were speculating as to the politics involved. Is there anything where politics is NOT involved?
In the Victory circle, in the TV interview, Ron offered me "an honorary Canadian Passport for letting him win the race" His words, I kid you not.
Could we have beat Ron? Well my car has won 2 races this year on a small budget. The Caddy has won 3 races on a multi million dollar budget. We didn't have to find out. We never made the pass attempts that we would have made if it were a Porsche or a Viper ahead of me.
This was the second last race of the season and we could not risk a low percentage pass attempt that would put both cars at risk.
I set a faster lap than Ron in the race, and I out qualified him by a few tenths. I qualified 2nd and Ron was 5th. We both missed the big crash in turn one so we were both fortunate.
Ron and I have raced against each other for many years. He is a fine driver. In the victory circle on TV I made the statement to the effect that,"to finish second at Mosport to Ron Fellows is as good as a win".
That is enough for me.
GM put my car in the wind tunnel this year. We plan on getting in the tunnel again this winter before Sebring. We are given plenty of help by GM so as long as a GM car wins the manufacturers championship we will be happy. I started racing Corvettes in 1988 and we at LG Motorsports owe alot to GM.
On to Laguna and cadillac still needs to win the Championship. Max papis, Max Angelelli and ANdy Pilgrim will be in the 3 Cadillac CTSv for that race. Pilgrim has to be no further back than 2 spots behind Archer's Viper to win the Drivers championship. Caddy has to be 2 places up on the Porsche to win the manufacturers championship.
This should be a knock down drag out race for both championships.
We will have 2 cars running. We are completing the second World Challenge C6 for this race. Dino Crescentini will be in my second car #27, and I will be in my #28 car. Both Dino and I have won a race this year in my Corvette. We plan on doing everything in our power to help GM accomplish their mission.
Trust me, the caddys don't need much help anyway but if we can plant our cars in front of the Porsches that will go a long way to helping Caddy.
Thanks for the offer. Just let me know when and where so we can make sure I am not racing anywhere that weekend, and I will be there to hold the driving seminar. I would be glad to work with my Corvette friends.
