Would like some opinions.....My tuner should have my Z done (finally) in about 10 days.
They suggested going with me to the track once (drag strip) before I go to BG. They also suggested I do a couple of runs and then let a driver (semi-professional they would bring with them) do a run or 2 to see what he can get out of it. They also want me to trailer it to BG in their trailer.
I've never let anyone drive the Z before besides me. What do you think?
Hey Mike, congrats on your machine coming together. I guess I might be facing the same kind of question. My car should be ready at LPE around Sept. 20 or maybe a little sooner. Not sure yet how I am goint to take delivery. If I pickup it up in Indiana it will cost me an additional $3000 for sales tax. One possibility we discussed is having LPE drive it to BG, about 350 miles, for me to pickup there. Hmm, maybe John would drive it himself as he is going to be giving some kind of presentation? I guess if anybody drives your car, your tuner would be the best choice. Sort of like your doctor, you know, he has access to things nobody else does. lol Also if they break it, who else better to fix it.
I let the best local vette driver take my car down the track afew times, just as a favor to him(his was at LPE) and to see what it does with diferant driver. Ric

As long as you are there to monitor the situation I think it would be cool! I would let someone else drive my car for tuning purposes only. Can't wait to hear about the performance.
I have 2 co-drivers; our arangement is my car, the other's trailer aand the 3rd's truck to events. I have also let other pro drivers drive my car to see if they are faster than me and to see what they would do to the car handling wise. This has allowed me to improve the car and improve my driving.
Thanks Doc and DJ, I think the posts here have convinced me to let the pro give it a run if it helps me get the most outta the Z.

Rule is though if you break it, you buy it
I like that rule a lot and will make sure they all understand it as well
Noticed no one said much about trailering it to BG. Tuner is afraid if anything goes wrong, I'm stranded and miss the fest. Good point but I will not get to road test it the way I want
Any ideas or opinions on this
I too say let them give it a run, and couldn't agree more about the rule . Some free R&D won't hurt at all, they prolly will come with more suggestions on what else could be gotten out of the beast.
I let my instructor drive mine at an SCDA track event. It helped me to see what the car is really capable of and made me push the car harder once I was back behind the wheel. It comes down to trust. Do you trust this guy?

Speed, I've never met the guy. His name is Shawn something and evidently he has a pretty good rep here in KC. The tuner I'm using is the one recommending this.
