Specter Werkes & the 24 Hours of Daytona

Way to go Jeff and all, I'll be there rooting you on.

Specter Werkes/Sports Announces Rolex 24 Project
#24 Cauley Corvette GTR to Feature Highlander DVD Promotion

Detroit – December 24, 2003 In conjunction with Cauley Chevrolet, a Michigan Chevrolet dealer, Specter Werkes Sports today announced it will enter the #24 Cauley Corvette GTR presented by Highlander to the 2004 Rolex 24 Hours of Daytona. This will be the third time the two companies have teamed up for this event.

“We are very excited having the Highlander promotional tie-in with this year’s entry,” said Cauley President, Jeff Cauley. “We felt this was a great way to bring our effort to the front of the field both competitively and promotionally. We'll be working with the folks at Anchor Bay Entertainment to promote their Highlander, Xena and Hercules TV series box sets on DVD. They will continue their promotion after the event by featuring the car throughout the Daytona Speedweeks. This is a perfect marketing combination for them and for our racing program with Specter Werkes.”

As the Specter Werkes team readies the car for next week’s testing, a complete graphics package is being created featuring the Highlander to promote the product and motorsports to Highlander fans.

“This is a very unique opportunity,” added Tom Bambard of Anchor Bay Entertainment. “We feel the demographics of motorsports and road racing in particular line up extremely well with our target audience. It brings action and excitement to the table… just the way Highlander fans like it. We’re extremely pleased to be working with an experienced group like Specter Werkes and Cauley. Make no mistake, we’re looking to run up front.”

The #24 Cauley Corvette GTR presented by Highlander will be driven by 2003 SCCA Sedan National Champion, John Heinricy of Holly, Michigan, 1993 SCCA GT Champion and President of Specter Werkes, Jeff Nowicki of Birmingham, Michigan, NASCAR Craftsman Truck series driver, Tom Bambard of South Lyon, Michigan, and in his rookie year, Richard Berry of Denver, Colorado.
?
The Rolex 24 Hours of Daytona will start January 31 at 1pm and end February 1 at 1pm.

Grand Am has changed the body for the 2004 season. This is a pic. of ACP Motorsports car being built. Kerry Hitt, owner, driver, and manufacturer was the Rolex series champion driver of 2002.

You can see the process here from start to finish.

So they're full tubbed chassied cars. Looks interesting. I noticed a solid rear axle rear end on the car in that link. Is that have to do with the class rules or is it just being used to mock the chassis up.
