STS 1/4 Mile Run

Does anybody have a video of an STS Turbo C5 Z06 running the 1/4 mile? I would like to see an STS Turbo in action to get an idea of how it will sound and the times it will run.

If no video, any 1/4 mile time slips?

Those vids are not the "run of the mill" basic TT kit. Those are heavily modified with high boost. I'm looking for something in terms of a basic kit on either a stock C5 Z06 and/or one with stock cubes, stock heads, but maybe headers or even one with a non-stock cam. Perhaps either running on street tires or drag radials.

I was also considering TT kit, but you got to wonder.

All these TT kits out and installed, and no times. .

Then I've seen a few 'run of the mill' TT kits at the track on Vipers and one Vette. Let me just say they don't get anywhere near the times & mph you'd suspect they should get with their power levels. I really wish they would though. Love to have a 140+mph car w/o NOS. I have a buddy of mine that just installed a TTi Kit on a 402. Let me just say I'll be watching closely.

Awesome ride. However, that one is more towards the upper end of the modification spectrum IMO. It would be nice to see a Z06 running an STS TT @ about 5-6#'s boost throwing down the base specs of ~ 510 - 530 RWHP and ~490 - 500 RWTQ. I really want to see one in action. I'm trying to decide which route I want to go to add more power to my Z06.

Somebody has got to have at least one video out there!

From what I've seen with TT Vettes, including a Stage 1 Lingenfelter TT, expect a mid to high 11 @ mid to low 120's with an average driver and a D/R.

Ben @ STS said he would have a video of a car doing a fly by. Maybe we can ask him if he can get one doing the 1/4?

I would sure hope for better than mid 11s from a $7K package making 500 rwhp. I run 11.80s with 385 rwhp on drag radials and I am not that great a driver. If the kit is not capable of mid to high 10s then it is a disappointment in my opinion. Personally I am waiting to see some track times from this kit on a near stock car before spending my money. Rick if you are listening this would be a great opportunity to "boost" sales. So lets see some track numbers.

I think it should shave at least one full second from the 1/4 mile time. At least.

I have asked a couple of times on here with no response if the STS system creates enough heat over a period of time to cause problems with body discoloration or even deformation? It seems that a 1000 degree turbo is awfully close to the body of the car. Anyone reporting any such problems?

Forget the ET. Slicks, drag radials, a launch technique to get maximum traction that effectively kills the clutch w/in 5k miles, etc... these all have a huge effect on ETs when you're talking about vehicles as light as a C5 that make over 350-400rwhp.

With 510rwhp, my LPE Stage 1 (6.5-7psi) ran 11.6 @ 128mph. That is good for 10.7-10.8s with traction and a banzai launch. For reference, in stock form I managed 12.36 @ 116 (350rwhp). Now at 600+rwhp (Stage 2), it ran a tire-shredding 11.4 @ 134mph. NHRA says 135mph is = to 9.99 in ET as far as safety requirments are concerned. These times were achieved in TX as well. A friend with the exact same combo ran 10.6 @ 138 with slicks. He wasn't powershifting, but he was obviously able to leave at a higher rpm and take advantage of the power (as you can see in the higher MPH and better ET) whereas I was "pedaling" the throttle in my car.

What a car runs ET-wise vs. what it is actually capable of running can vary greatly due to a number of conditions and factors.

I'm sure STS will post some times once they have some.

ET is not as indicative as trap speed..

~20 mph increase in trap speed is a closer indicator of the 250 rwhp increase on your car...

Just my opinion...and hollly crap! ~135 trap speed is awesome!!!!!!!!

(510 rwhp from 350rwhp shows 12 mph increase in traps too is impressive)
