Tire/Wheel question

I'm looking to get some wheels and tires for dedicated track use. Based on what I have read on this forum and the fact that I am not restricted on the size, I've decided to go with 18's on all four corners with Kumhos (315/35/18) or Hoosiers (305/30/18). Question is what wheels? I am considering using stock Z06 18" rear rims all around. Does that work in the front? Any fitment/rubbing problems on the front? Also, any problems with this combo or the use of the stock rims. Thanks.

Ideally to dial in a pretty neutral handling car you'd want the front tires to be 20-30mm skinnier than the rears. If you can find a good setup that works using stock wheels then that would be fine. CCW is what I'm going with and I think that's a good choice also. I don't think you'll have any fitment issues up front, but I have not tried so I can't tell you for sure. If you get to that point, I would be happy to go out and test it on my car for you.

You want the lightest wheel you can afford.

The larger tires will add their own weight, and a larger wheel is heavier, too. Those weight changes can have a significant effect on suspension behavior and acceleration (old-wives tale says every 1Lbs of rotating mass is equivalent to 4Lbs of deadweight).

I bought chrome Motorsport wheels, 18" all around. These are not a good choice for the track, they are heavy compared to the OEM wheels (I changed the tires over myself and I was shocked at how much heavier they were).

I think EOM 18" all around would be an OK "budget" choice, provided the rims are not too wide or narrow for the tires you choose.

If I wasn't constrained by rules, I think I would go with 18x10 front with a 305/30/18 and a 17x11 rear with a 315/35-17 or a 335/35-17.
CCWs are a great lightweight wheel for a decent price. Most SCCA T1 racers use them.
