I don't know what the deal is, I do know people in Georgia have long claimed errors in the timeslips at Steele. I can tell you that bone stock 02's in Georgia run 115-116 MPH. 01's run 113-114.
In any event is is really how you did that night against other cars at the same track, and it sounds like you did the Z proud

Yes I was running at Steele...I went out expecting 114-115 traps...I raced a 02 with VaraRam and Corsa Ti exhaust...he was running 12.4@118 I believe.
I am not sure if I should feel bad about the only timed 1/4 I have ever run...
2 nights ago I took the Z out to try the Gtech I bought from JB.
Without trying very hard (except for the wheel spin and traction control - the temp was 48F) I ran a "Gtech timed 1/4" in 14.05 @ 112.5mph - oh and my clutch pedal is sticking and needs to be flicked up between shifts... I can't wait to get it all fixed.
Quite: Then I finally ripped a 12.6@116mph...I was pumped....Thats a pretty high MPH for a bone stock 01, isn't it?
Quite: That is fast, you weren't running at Steele were you? They are infamous for "fast times" compared to other tracks.
Well, I did not get the remark by Les, except that maybe the track is better prepared, shorter that a real 1/4 mile, or just plain cheating on times recorded, but who cares. I have seen Dyno slips shown on this site that really are hard to believe. For a fact, we all know that any dyno can be played with to show almost any info through the "Correction" or "Uncorrected" process, but this is the first time I have heard about a race track "Fudging" numbers. Bottom line for me is Great, Great run and hats off to Adam B. I only wish that I can do as well my first time out come spring. Adam, you sure raised the bar. All the best and keep up the good work. Phil
What's not to get? Stock 01's run around 114+ MPH at most tracks. Steele lost its NHRA license some time ago, don;t know the facts. I do know that it is a goos hooking track, it has a rep for posting unusually good times. I have heard short track, improperly placed trap sensors etc. Don;t know what the truth is, but as I said it is what his car did that day against other cars at that track that counts.
And you don't think there is a difference between tracks??!!

Glad to see that you found the site Adam, this is by far the best resource for enjoying your Z. I was the '02 that ran against Adam and like I told him at the track, those are times that I would be proud of in a bone stock '01. Now we have to help Adam get the Mod fever!
As far as the times @ Steele, I've only run at Steele no other 1/4 mile track, but from what alot of the out of town guys said Saturday the times appeared, if anything, a little high. A guy in a white 300ZX twin turbo was there running 12.3-12.4's according to him, at the track he frequents in GA, he usually runs flat 12's. I realize weather conditions, track prep, etc. has a significant effect, but he claimed he was hooking well, but could not figure out his slower times.
BTW as Adam posted, I set a new personal best of 12.4 @ 118!
