I had an opportunity to take a new Z on a (only one) fun run @ our event yesterday (being the Pres. of the club has its benefits

).
Impressions realizing I have an '02 Z which is partially ASP prepped:
*The car felt very solid/rigid.
*The power was not overwhelming, although very good. The course
was ridiculously tight (I didn't get out of 1st in the '06).
*It handled very well w/ street tires & was well balanced (I only experienced understeer entering a very tight M maneuver).
*It was fairly easy to drive @ 10/10ths
*The talk of the electronic nannies that are still on after you turn off T/C are true--I felt the car balking going through an (erratic) offset section. I actually read (last night) that the button must be held down for 5 seconds to turn
everything off--wish I knew that abt 6 hrs earlier...
OK, time comparisons between the 2 cars. Realizing my '02 is on huge Kuhmo 710s (315/335s) and is aligned properly/lowered/brake pads approx 400 RWHP etc.
'02 C5 Z-- 50.9
'06 C6 Z-- 53.7
Set the new Z up in the same manner, and we'll have a real dogfight.
The C5 Z will not go down w/o a bloodbath--@ least in ASP.
That being said--I'm saving up for a C6Z--make mine Velocity Yellow...
