Track Tire Sizes

Can 315/35 x 18 tires be used on the stock rear Z06 wheels, or are they too wide for the wheels? Road course, not drag racing.

Thanks Josh, I had already seen that discussion, but it sort of hits on both sides of my question. I really want to know if anyone has good experience with the 315's on the stock 10.5" wheels. I am pretty comfortable with the 305's on stock, or the 315's on 11", but remain curious about the above. Thanks, good info from all though.

Rob,
Never done it so I'm just guessing here, but...

I run 315/35-17 on 17x10, so by implication, I'd think a 315 would fit on a 10.5 inch rim.

31/5/35-18 seems like it would be too tall. What tire is that size, I couldn't find any?

The closest I could find was a 315/30-18 Michelin Pilot Sport Cup. The Tirerack spec sheet says it will fit on a 10.5 inch wheel and height is 25.5", which is just short of stock, but almost identical to the height and width of the 315/35-17s I'm running.

Hey not to hijack your thread, but I'm doing a bunch of off season maintenance to my car this Saturday starting about 10am. PM me if you're interested in coming over and checking it out and I'll let you know where I live. I'm having several other vette owners come by.
- front lower a-arms

Brad - thanks, I had the same thoughts. The Kumho V710 is a 315/35R18 with 26.4" OA diameter vs. the stock MX of 26.7", so not much difference and actually smaller. The front is 25.4" vs. 25.8" on the MX which I run on the street. Anyway, thanks and PM to follow regarding Saturday.

Rob,
FYI, the stock 295/35-18s are only 26.1 in diameter.
The Kumho Ecsta MX in 295/35-18 is also 26.1 per tireracks spec sheet.
26.4 is pretty close. For some reason I didn't think to check the V710s. The spec sheet for the 315/35-18 says it will fit a 10.5 inch wheel. Your going to get some buldging though, so effective width will be slightly less than 315.

Actually, I have the V710's mounted on 18x10.5 CCW's. No buldge. The tire fits as perfect as I've ever seen any race tire fit. The corners of the V710 are much more rounded than the previous Victoracers and the Hoosier A3SO3's. That may also be helping with the lack of buldge.

Thanks Don, just wanted to hear from someone who had actually run them on that rear rim size.

Rob, you are going to LOVE the rear grip from the V710's. If you're used to the 305/30's Hoosier break-loose tendencies, you'll be amazed at how much more grip you have with the V710's. I was able to be *really* rough with the car and the rear stayed planted.

If it's any help, there are at least 3 dozen of us running the 315 V710s on stock rear rims in SCCA Solo2 already, and they seem to work fine!
