For track use, 01 Alcoa's or 02+ Speedlines?

Forged or slightly lighter spun-cast?

CCW's are cost-prohibitive for me with all the other expenditures.

I only drag race however, I purchased the 01 ZO6 wheels last week. My thoughts were give up a slight amount of weight for the known strength of the 01's. I have been told that the weight difference is only 4/10ths of a pound per wheel.

If you are drag racing the forged '01 will suffice. I would not use the cast spun +'02 wheels.

If you are road racing or AutoXing I do not recommend any OEM wheel due to the high side loads encountered. There have been some failures.

Look for a used set of CCW's, Circle Wheels or Kodiak's in the $1400 range.

Besides these race wheels are lighter and stronger and can be repaired much more easily and cheaply if pranged.

The OEM Speedline outsourced +'02 wheels (spun cast) are NOT equal to CCW's and IMHO are NOT track worthy.

There are other aftermarket Speedline race wheels that ARE very track worthy
