VIR: Cartek 2x times before and after (lap and straights) review

The before test is with my 2001 when it had no suspension changes at all and a Haltech T1.
The after test is Cartek 2x set at 458rwhp. Also T1 swaybars and endlinks with poly control arm bushings all around.
Car had stock tires stock sizes for both tests.
Both tests were during driving schools for NASA and Car Guys so few clear laps so more detail in segment times.
Conditions:
Before- 80 degrees track in great shape good traction about 90% ideal
After- 44 degrees with 20-35mph winds head on or cross. Track fresh from snow/rain and was still a little damp and like glass.
maybe 15% of ideal (that's only because colder means more power)
Before After
Oak tree apex Best avg. Best avg.
to Pit road south 12.25 12.40 11.09 11.15

Oak tree apex
to hill south ent. 20.37 20.50 18.71 19.03

Last Turn apex
to Start/Finish 10.53 10.80 9.96 9.99

Last Turn apex
to Brake mark 6 15.09 15.35 14.18 14.22

Lap times 2.20-2.21 range 2.16-2.18
No real clean laps though and tires were cooked by the end.

Overall:
The track was a good bit slower and braking zones were back way more than normal.
Also cross wind on straights meant I didn't go above 145mph regardless. So I left a good bit on the table on back straight as I hit that and could have been in 5th for a few hundred more feet.
Powerwise car felt awesome. Need more rear tire, this would help alot as I was in throttle oversteer 4 wheel drifts easily.

Sway bars and bushings feel great but track was slick so couldn't take full advantage.

When all is said and done I bet 4-6 seconds a lap was picked up from mods.

Good tires would help stretch that margin even more. 335/35/17's and some hoosiers all around would be worth several seconds maybe even 3-4 or more I am guessing.

Oil Cooler:
To cold to really tell but temp never got above 210 degrees.

DRM Brake Ducts:
Worked great never faded but again cold so hard to tell. Race tires would also change thoughts.

Hope that helps.
Was lapping everyone and having a ball.

Silver Bullet,
Impressive gains, especially given the conditions.
Having never driven there, I can't really evaluate how much of the gain was from handling mods and how much was from HP mods, but all in all, those are pretty substantial improvements.
Man, I can't wait to get my car back...

Nothing from handling in current track condition but can tell it will/should be quicker in better conditions.
Only had two good sessions and those weren't really that dry and great either.
Turn in though did feel better but handling overall really hard to judge.
Everything above was all motor.
Car felt like it would have been slow regardless.
Swaybars and endlinks make a lot of noise but car is stiff as rock.

I told Dave I think 2-3 seconds easy are left on the table with no cross wind (full power whole straight then) and better traction from the track.
Still a ways from the 2:10 T1 track record though.
A full tilt suspesnion and good race tires make up fro all that power and then some.
Now if I would combine both....hmmmmm

SB: Making up the difference between you times and the T1 times could be that you care about your car, and a race car is made to be beat. Huge difference I beleive.

Did you change the front A-arm bushings? If so, how does the car feel and sound? The T1 bars are real stiff, correct? End links make them noisy?

Last, how far away from Midlothian are you? My favorite aunt and uncle live there, and I try to get down there every so often.

Hope to see you at a trakc this year!

I know I really needed poly bushings and I think handling will be better with T1 bars and endlinks but I gave up more streetability with those two changes then all the engine and clutch mods combined.
It squeeks a bunch and sometimes you will share a shock is just making a ton of noise but handling doesn't change so then I remeber it's the control arm bushings making noise as they move.
I really debate about the T1 bars and end links staying in.
Didn't do any true back to back testing and know I would probably lose some going back to stock but car is like a rock now and noisy and I bet that is 90% of it.
