Spent 6/21 at Putmnam Park in Indiana with the Lotus Club fom St Louis. There were 44 drivers in 3 groups so we didn't have a lot of down time.
I have been there before so I thought I had a pretty good line, but in the afternoon I got an instructor to ride with me. He changed a few things which made the laps much faster with less wear on the brakes, Being an autoxcrosser it's hard not to brake hard and not trailbrake.
I've never posted pics before, if I can figure it out I'll post some. The Loti (plural for Lotus?) wer good looking and very fast, especially int he corners. I got my first ride in a Superformance 427 Cobra. You enter the car head first and come out feet first with you knees on the seat to avoid the hot pipes. Not much room in those but they might be the untimate impractical car. 2400lb with lots of HP and torque. If you don't mind getting wet int he rain even with the top on. I had the only Vette there. The weather held and we got 5 20 minute sessions.
Putnam is not nearly as hard on tires as Mid-Ohio.

Sounds like fun. Would love to see a map of the course, do you have a link to a track map?

As to the Cobra clone, try out the newer Factory five style. These have more legroom in the cockpit, even I can drive it at 6'4". I had seriously considered building one before the Z06 was released, and reached the same conclusion that these are not very practical at all. Their optional hardtops also look terrible on the cars.

Agree, the hardtop is one of the ugliest things I've seen, loks like the car was done and somebody said "wait it's raining let's put this top on it until we have time to design one."

We didn't do the loop or Times square. I did get my wife to ride with me once. She's not into cars and going fast but she didn't throw up either.
She said that at least she knows what I do now. So it was a good experience, plus we got away from the rat race of work for a day.
