What is the best thing to do first?

My friend has an '02 Z06 and it is stock, he wants to run close to my #'s or faster now so we can have fun when we race. What air system is the best and and what Nitrous Kit do you suggest. I told him NX for the Nitrous kit but any info is appreicated.

You'll find the air intake kits yield very close results. I have a Vortex Rammer intake and it works fine. The Vararam is also very good with many people having great results with it.

I have a TNT kit on mine. Very conservatively tuned on 93 octane gas it yields 130rwhp gain. I've had it on since May '02 and have had no issues.

I think keeping it simple like the mods you suggest is a good move. He'll have a very reliable car and will be able to give you a good race.

i agree with 2fast. I'd say vararam, air bridge, TNT wet kit is really good, i have NX and have no problems but i belive the tnt puts out a lil more. As far as exhaust goes, i'd say the BORLA XR-1 but, it's loud. If he doesn't like his 02 vette sounding like a race car,..don't get it. I love it. Also very important, tell him to get the hurst shifter. It's awesome, and very positive, kinda reminds me of my shifter i had in my cobra. Then if he could swing it, have him get some long tubes,...I recommend LG motorsports. It's a very nice TRUE long tube, not like these headers everyone has on here that say there long tubes, when there acctually more like equal length compared to LG's. Oh yes, most important probably, some drag radials.

I think the best thing to do first is to learn how to drive it. Get use to how it acts without power adders, then when you're comforable then start adding the fun stuff.

gofast,...i agree but, to an extent. Some people are naturals. In other words some people handle cars/speed better then others. A stock Z06 is fast but, not fast enough. Get a shifter and some tires for the first mods.....you'll be good to go. Then, like gofast said,...learn it then get your mods(like nitrous).

Not sure what kinda numbers you are putting down, but here is the video of me racing my friend in his '03 Cobra. It's the one putting down 470rwhp. My only performance mods are the Vararam, exhaust, and a 75shot(dry). We went from a 50 roll. Just ignore how the video was edited. The guys in the car were sore because I told them it was stock with an Air/Fuel programmer. I told them the truth right afterwards, not that I needed to.

The Cobra had 2 passengers and I had none.

I agree. I had my TNT kit ordered before I even took delivery of my car. A low-12 second car is fast with regards to what the rest of America drives (well, 99.9%), but to me... nope. Not really.
