What do you use for numbers?

In Autox I have used static material which is reusable but have been told that this material will not stay attached to the car on a road course. So what do people use and is it reuseable? I may just go with painters tape.
Thanks
Ray

I used painters tape last season and recommend it. Easy to apply & remove. Highly visible against the Torch Red exterior. May be an issue if your Z is EB.

This year, I'm planning to just put decals on and leave them for the season, so I'm considering the reusable vinyl.

My static-cling decals stayed on up to 150mph at the track several times when they were "in their prime." Biggest issues I had were: the car (black) gets very hot in the sun, and the adhesive bonding the 2 layers of vinyl got soft and they wrinkled and also the edges start curling up after a while, which makes them prone to "spontaneous unassisted removal."

I have used the solotime reusable adhesives. I have two sets.

They look great on the car when new and stick well. They stick so well you must be patient removing them. Heating them helps, but they still tend to stretch slightly each time, so reapplying them without bubbles or wrinkles gets tougher.

When they get used several times, they don't stick quite as good and the leading edge will begin to lift and it collects dust further reducing the stickability.

The solution for this when that happens is to put a strip of blue masking tape on the leading edge to help hold it down so it does not peel off. The same trick works well for the static cling on high speed tracks.

I just use the static clings now. They are more convenient.

I use vinyl stick on decals as mine don't need to come off. This type of decal can be bought at most local decal/sign businesses or online at most racing parts supply companies like Pegagus. My numbers have been on for three years now and I'm afraid the paint will show #66 when I take them off due to uneven fading. I try to keep the car out of the sun when not at the track, but...

My static cling numbers are about 15 years old now. I put them on the night before using a spray bottle with water and a squeegee to get the water out. They stay on in the rain, at 150 etc. The car and number have to be clean. I don't put them on or take them off when they are hot, otherwise they can wrinkle. After waxing, wipe the car with a damp terry cloth in the areas that you are sticking on static cling.

I generally just cut some numbers out of white contact paper.

I do the same thing as freefall - use shelving/contact paper. Haven't field tested about 135 mph, though

I use peel ons from staples @ both the 1/4 mile & used them at Pocono when I went.
No problems, & cheap too!

Sorry - didn't check the thread lately. It lasts fine on either windows or paint - has held without issue for a three day weekend hitting the high 140's in the straights.
