To the best of my knowledge I have the best time for a 100% stock Z06... 1.85 60' - 11.933@114.52 back in October of 2001.
Others are very very closer. Ther are several others in the 11.99 range 100% stock. Most made one or two trips to the track in stock form and added Drag radials and an air intake. With good tires, and a free flowing airbox there are several folks in the 11.5-11.6 range.
But to the best of my knowledge no one has posted a faster time than 11.933
I have heard that you are very "prolific" at the drag strip but, why are your times so much better than the best times in the mags. Not trying to give you a hard time but, I just want to know. The best I have seen in a magazine was motortrend 12.4s. Your car is completely stock?
Mine and several others who have run similar times. A couple of things. More seat time than the magazine drivers in this car. Most mamagzine test are done with a full tank of fuel, the tires at recommended inflation pressure, and in many cases they aren't done at a real drag strip. They are done at some test facility. A dragstrip in most cases has a more prepped surface that allows for greater traction. One other thing, my best pass was done in the fall when the air was cool and the humidty was lower. This also added extra HP. One other thing. Most magazine drivers don't powershift. I do.
Let me point this out. GMHTP tested a 2001 Z06 and ran an 12.2 in it. They actually tried to make a pass like one of us would. Came out with some decent times too...
Again, the 11.933 was made in "as delivered from GM" condition. My more recent best passes 11.596 have benefitted from two things. Sticky tires (ala Mickey Thompson ET Streets), and better intake air flow (removing the cover from the factory airbox which picked me up 15HP).
I was able to run an 11.99@117.63mph, 1.84 60' 100% stock at MIR with less than 1000mi on the car. A good friend of mine was able to run a 12.08@117mph 100% stock his first time at the track with the car. Click on the link for my slip.
Recently Motor Trend published an ET for the Z06 at 12.85@115 and an ET for the 03 Cobra at 12.84 in the same issue. I wrote Motor Trend and got into an argument with one of the editors.
I posted some emails he sent me, and he got so upset he called me at work.
I apologized in public, but asked him to post for the world to see, why they got the results they did in this thread:

"STOCK" is an interesting question. Is blowing the fronts to 40+ lbs and lowing the rears to the 20's "STOCK"?
How bout sneaking in a little race gas???
Changing the alignment?
Super prep of the drag strip???
Actually, I'm more impressed if you can make the car go left and right, brake, accelerate, upshift and downshift.... faster than the others.

"STOCK" is an interesting question. Is blowing the fronts to 40+ lbs and lowing the rears to the 20's "STOCK"? Just like when auto-x or road racing adjusting your tire pressue is important to obtain the best results. What is the issue?
How bout sneaking in a little race gas???
I have dyno'd race gas. No increase in HP...
Changing the alignment?
My car has the stock alignment numbers
Super prep of the drag strip???
All drag strips are prepped. Some better than others. Is there an issue with that?

Well, since you seem to be interested in road racing. Wouldn't all those factors be of interest to you?

J-Rod, I'm very impressed by your times for a stock Z. To achive a 1.85 60', are you just driving the car from the line or launching hard. My best 60' has been 2.09.

44PSI is still stock. So is 20 PSI, but you will find that on most tracks, pressures under 24PSI don't increase traction on Z-rated tires due to "Cupping" of the footprint.
Dyno testing 100 vs 91 unleaded shows no gain in HP on the stock timing, compression, or F/A ratio on LS1/LS6 engines. I've done same-day testing. I run 50/50 mix to reduce KR when "hot-lapping" at the dragstrip.
Factory alignment is adjustable. Watch the tape that came with your car. Factory setting are great for dragracing, but are weak for AutoX.
Track prep varies track-to-track. A good racer uses experience and adjustments to compensate for different track conditions.
Drag racing is a speciality. If you think it's easy, you haven't tried it.
Personally I like AutoX better, 60 seconds of pure violence. But give the drag-racers their due. It only LOOKS easy.
Cape Cod Bob,
I can't speak for others but my 11.99 run was done the way the car was delivered. No tire psi adjustment, race gas, K&N or DR's. The last time I went to the track I ran a 12.02@117.47 w/1.83 60' and yes there were other forum members present.
BTW I also can also drive this car to it's limits on something other than a dragstrip, and I'm not the only one!!!

Cape Cod Bob has some strong opinions, in person at the track.(don't we all) He is a good driver, but shure diden't react very well when I diden't agree with ALL his opinions, and ran quicker than him. I would like to thank him for telling me about the upcomeing vararam, I was doubtfull it would run better than my K&N...only had the lesser available systems to compare to then.(in 01) Thanks for the good "tip" bob.
