I've read plenty of stories of Z06's whooping up on 360 Modena, and I new a guy who owned a 360 and now owns a z06 swearing the Z06 delivers more power. I always thought the 360's where a bottom 13 sec car/high 12's. Which definitely puts the Z06 in front. Then just the other day my friend said that I was wrong about the 1/4 miles times, and that I probably heard those numbers from a magazine who can't drive. (Which is possible, I think we've all seen the 13.1 Car and Driver got with an 02 Z06) He told me that those cars stock run like bottom 12's and that with a real driver it would barely get a Z06 any day. Anyone know how true this is?
You can look at the thread "playing with a ferrari" for some stories. I personally spanked a Modena from 70 to 170 mph in my then stock 01 Z06. The driver is a experienced road racer so I do not think driver was an issue. He is not the hold back kind of guy. If the 183 mph is correct, I guess it would beat a stock Z06 on top end. A little program change could take care of the problem.

yeah I read your posts and that was one of the things that amped me starting this tread. If that post about 0-400 = 12.6 that does make the Z06 a faster car by and edge. I'd still like to know a ferrari trap speed in the 1/4
12.6's @ 1312.3.................7.7 more feet to a 1/4.........
So, how much you add for that??.........1/10th..........so, you lookin' at 12.7's.......
Coming from Ferrari's site, one wouldn't THINK it would be CONSERVATIVE.........
Yeah I wouldnt think they'd be conservative.....so the 02 Z06's definitly have them.
OMG it's terrible I just saw the new road and track (I think thats what it was) on break at work. They tested the handleing of the Z06 vs Lancer vs Lotus vs etc. The Z06 placed like 5th, it was such B.S. it was beat by a Lancer Evo VII!!! I didn't read the article because of lack of time, but wtf is wrong with road and track?
A lot of these big car mag. come up with some funny numbers. Recently I took a trip so I picked a car mag. After reading a few articles I got to the back of the mag. which had all the specs. on a bunch of cars. I like to read that section. After reading about a couple of cars I throw the mag. in the trash. They had the Z06 at 13.1 in 1/4 mile and some others with redicules times. Some faster some slower than actual.

Actually i would think the numbers from ferrari would be conservative. Every eurpoean manufacturer puts out conservative numbers. The 911 turbo was said to have around 4.2 0-60 and even magazine drivers have ripped out 3.9 0-60's and faster. Porsche and Ferrari are both well known for putting out conservative performance numbers on all their cars.
Don't underestimate the 360 Modena. Motor Trend has some very impressive numbers on it, 3.9 sec 0-60 and 12.2 sec @ 113.5 MPH in the 1/4 mi. This is with the 6SA tranny, rated at 395 HP. I would say, it will come down to the driver between the Z06 and the Modena. Of course, I haven't seen a Z06 an a 1/4 mi. in the 14s, but witness a Modena ran a 14.4 and lost to an Audi T/T which ran a 14.1. The Modena owners is a friend of a friend of mine, we all drove out to the track together. I don't think he ever even own a fast sport car before this and never drove his Modena hard either.
Yeah the funny thing with Chevy is while Ford was over rating the HP on the 99 Cobras Chevy was underrating the HP on the Camaros. Also rating mustangs to run 1/4 mile times I never seen out of one driver, while I've seen stock S.S. Camaros go 12.9's when only rated at low 13's (I personally like chevy's way of doing funny #'s) LOL
Owning both and driving both and being an ex-formula atlantic driver, the 360 is faster and has a higher top end but not by much of a margin. You have to remember that the 360 red lines at 8500rpm and has five valves per cylinder. This makes the 360 a very fast reving motor. If you want an unbiased opinion, then ask 2002blackzo6. He and his wife visited me. You will not find many Ferrari Owners wanting to drag race their cars and road racing them on public streets. Also the 360 has ground effects that pull the car down on the road. The 360 feels tighter and more responsive at 100 than 40 wereas the ZO6 and Corvettes tend to get a little float. It's a blast owning both!!
shucks, SpeedDemon after reading this post I wish we had the chance of running that 360 modena we saw on the road the other day when you were in the car with me. Then we would have known for sure and you wouldn't have even had to start this post. Pretty boy was going to get his hair cut at a salon and that seemed more important that racing a Z06 to him. Don't forget that stupid girl that almost smashed into my car after we finally caught up to that 360 Modena!!!! what a BI%&H
I think Motor Trend might have gotten a little donation for that article. I can see 3.9 in the 0-60 being of the rear engine configuration. 12.2 in the 1/4 mile Only if the drag strip was down a mountain. That is Viper fast.
I have already spanked one from a fast roll. I can't imagine any different from a stop are slow roll. But, I will be on a hunt.
Know disrespect to the Ferrari guys. The Modena is super car. If I had big bucks and I could only have either a Z06 or a Modena. I would have to go with the Modena. I just do not feel they have Z06 speed. I did see one a National last year in ASP. I do not remeber it's times but it looked great on the course. It was real fast and impressive handling. Do not know if it had any mods.
SpeedDemon
I have heard the SS Camaros are putting some fast times. 12.9 is fast. I think the Modena might be able to hang with the Camaro.
TIMGT-It says something about you if you make fun of the 360 Driver ie. pretty boy and the haircut etc. Most true sport's car fans appreciate other cars and do not need to prove who's faster and better. Personally I'm glad there are 100's of sports cars to choose from. If it were a monopoly imagine the styling and price we would all pay. From experience of whipping out in a ZR1 back in 1991 at 175 MPH, I can say it's stupid to race on public streets. Take your grudge to a race track and get a legitimate racing license to go fast as safely as possible. I'm lucky to be alive and not physically damaged. It's STUPID to race on public streets!
