I'm running stock everything except for a K&N filter? I've been doing 2.0s to 2.2s consistently for my 60's. My personal best is 1.9. I tried to search the forum for some data on this but couldn't find much. (I'm sure it's there somewhere.) And I see the odd bit of data in some signatures. So my question. What's a good 60' time? What are some of the easy tricks to improve? I'm not looking for mods. I'm looking for ideas on how to drive better...
Good question. I wondered the same myself. My best on f1's is 1.969. I think anything in the 1.9X is pretty good. I'd like to know the best 60 foot on f1's for other members

Track conditions and environment play a very large part on your 60' times. Here is my .02
Drop your rear psi to 20 - 24 PSI...Inflate your fronts to 46 PSI.
Drive AROUND the water box but back slowly near it and do a 1-3 second burnout to clean the rocks and dust/kitty litter off of your tires. Make sure absolutely NO water is on the tires -- they will be slightly sticky to the touch. There should be NO water in the wheel well either. This is the #1 cause for poor 60' times -- water.
Launch that Z at around 2K - 3.5K but no more. The F1's can't take a faster launch. You should hear a slight screech at launch but thats it. There should be zero wheel hop.
Practice. Get on the freeway at rush hour and wait for those red light/green light things at the on-ramp. Hell, thats free launch-day.
Take care.
Thanks Z06addikt. Sounds like good advice. I'm going to the track this friday night and I'll try everything you've suggested. I'll let you know how I make out.
Question: when cleaning the tires for a few seconds, I'll just back up close to the water box, take her up to about 4K and drop the clutch, right? Or are you suggesting a brake stand?
My best 60' time is 1.83 on F-1's and it came from leaving the line at 1700rpm's. I leave my rear tire psi at 30. Decreasing the psi below that didn't work for me. The first 60' should also feel smooth for the best 60' times on F-1's.

I let the clutch out quickly but I don't pop the clutch as most do when they run DR's or slicks. I also have the advantage of racing at one of the best tracks in the country, Maryland Int. Raceway.
I lucked into a 1.80 60' and 11.74 on my stock F1's. I dropped the clutch at 2000 rpm's with the tires at 25psi and it stuck. I wasn't able to replicate it on the next pass (I pulled a 2.3 60').
It amazes me how some people can slip the clutch at the track. I can do it on the street all day long, but put a timing tree there and I just can't do it.

I hate to say it but putting a pair of bfg drag radials on will not only lower your 60 ft time but will give you a better feel of the car and track making you a better driver ,i went from 2.0s to 1.62 and can understand now what it takes on any tires .
Some excellent advise in this thread. Tire pressure will vary depending on track conditions, I find 22-24 PSI best, a full 2 second dry burn-out, launching at 1800-2200 (again depending on the track), lifting the clutch and pressing the go pedual as opposed to dump and stab.
Bottom line is practice and experiment, what works me may not work for you, different drivers, conditions etc. Practice is the best mod
I have managed a series of high 1.8X 60' times when the rubber was fresh, results in sig.
