Wheel Hop

I know that all C5/C6 cars have the dreaded 'wheel hop' that can eat the differential quickly . . . any cure known? DTE does not work and the only thing I have found is much lower rear tire pressures and much easier launching.

Still, this is a poor excuse for what appears to be poor engineering - - my C4 stroker has a factory four link and it never hops.

Any suggestions? Thanks.

You should do a search, this topic has been covered many times, here is the short version:

1. Make sure tire pressures are factory
2. Check alignment
3. For the track, consider ET Streets
4. If (1) - (4) fail to solve the problem, install poly U bushings in rear suspension.

I had HORRIBLE wheel hop when the car was new, and I am an experienced racer. I tried 1-3, still had bad hop - went went the poly-u bushings, zero hop since.

This is what was suggested to me to do, after making sure all the other items were in order. And if you are concerned of the ride, just replace the lower A-arm bushings with the poly units.

Good luck!!

Wheel hop is directly related to shock Rebound

For a street driven car get the '04 shocks

For a track car get Penske DA's

For a Drag car get the Penske DA's with drag valving

I had horrid hop on F1s. When I swapped to Toyo RA1s I got rid of it. With the installation of the polyurethane bushings, the hop came back.

Not nearly as bad, and on a cold road, but it was there. So I'm inclined to think that shocks could be a big part of it.

Of course, there is still a nasty fat ugly rubber bushing in the arm where the shock mounts (anyone make a replacement for this?).
