Who's foolin' Who?

Here is one for you guys,

This last weekend I went racing at a Ford event with my c5 6m coupe. There was one other guy there with an 02 z. My best run was a 12.69 at 111.84 w/ 1.81 60'. I have the ziptie mod with a k&n filter and 270/35/18 drag radials run at 15lbs. These tires really hook if you do a good burnout. The guy w/ the z ran 12.16 at 118. He had the ziptie mod, coolant bypass, and 3.90 gears.

My question is this: What kinda of power do you guys really think these cars make? I punched in the weight of the cars and the mph of each into a program at www.prestage.com my coupe would have to produce 363 rwhp according to the program and the z would have to produce over 420 rwhp. Once again this is what the program read. I have a 78 malibu that runs 120.5 in the 1/4 and weighs 3230 w/me and gas. The motor was dynoed @ the flywheel. The motor produces 535 horsepower @ 7100rpms. I think GM is not really telling us the truth. The math doesn't add up to push something that weighs over 3000 lbs to almost 120 mph takes a lot more than 405 horsepower @ the flywheel. So, what do you guys think?

The Z only weighs about 3075 with 1/2 tank of gas.

I'm not sure which calculator you were using or the weight you entered.....

The 3.90 gears will also add a few mph to the 1/4 mile run vs. the stock gears.

The calculator I used is @www.prestage.com under using mph to determine horsepower. The weight I put in for the z was 3300. This is start line weight (driver, gas, etc).

That calculator is way off.

www.smokemup.com has an accurate HP from 1/4 mile MPH calculator. According to it, 3300 lbs, 118 mph trap speed = 368.2 RWHP.
