Hoosier has a 305/30-18(road race compond). By the old Solo II rules, the car tires could not stick out the fenders in stock. I feel the 305 will likely stick out. The rules know state that the tire must only conform to the fenders. ?????????

I have found that in warm climates the Road Race compond works well and last much longer then the Autocross.

The 305 will be legal. As long as you are mounting on a stock offset wheel you will be ok. When Kumho's get here... we will all be better... Stick better than the Road Race Hoosier (IMO), and lest 10 times longer!
Good luck this year Jose! Enjoy the car!

Dave,

Don't know yet who will be fastest between Hoosier and Kumho, but I agree about the wear issue. Unfortunately, I talked to Rudy C and Kumho today and he said they won't be available at Tire Rack until late April, early May.

What is the SCCA rule for tire widths in stock classes? I thought I rememberd +/- 10%; is that correct? What about rim widths? Will the standard C5 wheel/tire combos that I have coming be legal? I'm not overly concerned at this point but it'd be nice to know.

Thanks,

The 2001 SCCA rule book says that the "tire must fit the allowable wheels and fenders wells without modification". The wheels must have the same width and diameter +/-.25 inches on the width as stock. This would suggest that you can not us a standard C5 rim on a Z06. I can't find anything on the +/-10%.

I've been told by lots of SCCA people (including the rules people in Atlanta region) that running 275's up front and 305's in back is perfectly legal in super stock. In fact, there are 2 red Z06's in Atlanta region who run exactly this combo.
As for me, I'm waiting for the 18" Kumho's to come out ...
