X50 track time

well last night took the porsche to Moroso in Palm Beach. Thought because of cool weather would be a great night. Well after two hours in tech(bullshit) I finally made my first pass at around 9:30-10:00. What I thought was good conditions made for a much difficult run. realized that heating up tires on a AWD car is, well, not gonna happen. So with ice cold tires and VHT equals lots of wheel hop. Not fun in a AWD car.

60' 2.198
1/8 8.46/92.38
1/4 12.685/118.01

Thats with leaving at 3000 slipping the clutch and then flooring it.

Second pass I just left like leaving a parking lot in Publix. Full throttle then shifted normal the rest of the way(not speed shifting).

60' 2.058
1/8 8.162/92.92
1/4 12.382/118.43

I have gotten 1.9 60' on the street with a g-tech. Thats probably since the tires were at the normal operating temp. Cold tires and going after sportsman really sucked. First time ever that I have driven a car to Moroso that hooks better on the street. I'm convinced it was the conditions and cold tires.

Regardless I posted this so you guys can have an idea what a twin turbo X50 is capable of. I think that the car is defintley able to run 11.80-11.90 at around 119-120. I just got on the Z06 list at my local dealer. They commited to MSRP and no add on with a 2500.00 deposit.

Food for thought. When leaving, going south on the beeline, raced a red Supra. From 100. I took off, at 165 I herd what sounded like a friggin jet comming. He passed me by as I hit 171. He passed me like someone doing 70 passes someone doing 55. I was shocked. I'm telling ya this guy pulled away from me bad. We talked at the Mobil at PGA and T-pike. They said the car goes 220 and that they are from Dynamic turbo in Hollywood. Guess what, Thier not kidding. I have seen alot of internet crap on turbo supras and thought it was bullshit. I'm still shocked. If you live on Broward watch out for a red supra. I tried to set up a top end race with one of Doug Levins S/C Vipers. They said that they already beat him. On that note I said.... Nice car, your shit hauls ass and have a good night.

Randy

You need to speak in similar terms...either SAE or DIN for both cars.

The base 996 Turbo has 415 hp SAE and the X50 option has 444 hp SAE.

The base 996 Turbo has 420 hp DIN and the X50 option has 450 hp DIN.

ya...I could never get my 02tt better than 12.4 at moroso with upgrades...car is very very difficult to launch..gearing is short for 1st two gears making timing for shifting tough as well while the turbo is backlashing you!

Best results when racing are third gear and up!! awesome car..very expensive to mod

you get past 1.1 bar in cold weather...thats the highest the boost I ever got.

$500 for an Upsolute chip buys you ~90 horsepower. Not bad...

My last car was a 97 Supra Single turbo. Awsome street car! I had a relatively small single turbo (63mm) and on pump gas was putting down 510 rwhp and 471 rwtq at 19psi. With this size turbo, spool was not bad either. It was making 300 rwhp by 3400rpm. There are several out there with larger turbos making anywhere from 700 to 1000rwhp on race gas.

I sold it about a year ago and just picked up an 02 Z06 with 5k miles and have about $6k left over

They are both great cars.

Take that bad boy to the road course where it belongs! Come to Moroso on 1/22 for a track day with SAFE Motorsports, I'd love to see your car.

Nice run. This Turbo of yours is stock? I like those Turbo models.

I've seen many Supra videos on the net and I used to see some Supras at some street races many years ago. Those cars are no joke! I've run into some members of the California club and they have some wicked rides. I can't tell you how many guys I've run into that tell me they have 800+rwhp.

Nice story.

Sweet car. You know that it will run much better than that. Good luck the next trip out.

He's probably talking about the "30" being the horsepower difference versus the option code's "50".
