You guys think i can beat this guy

My modified Z against a T04 Turbocharged SRT-4. he just got the turbo put it and he is going to tuned it this week. just for fun, i called out for a little street racing action in the middle of nowhere. he claims 400rwhp on pump gas and 450rwhp on race gas. his car weights in at about 3000 lbs so it should be a close race if he is running race gas

Well Shannon you guys are putting out about the same whp and he's a tad lighter and you have the 4:10's...should be a good one...until you spray.

With traction, you have a 10sec car, so use some sticky tires!

My brother owns one of these.
I believe the fastest in country (besides the factory cars) run in mid to high 11's.
You should be good to go no problem.

Raced a yellow turbo Neon here in Jax. from a roll. I was at 4,000 rpms in 2nd and he stayed with me until mid way through 3rd.... Pulled on him after, up to xxx got about a two cars or so on him... I was suprised that I could still see him next to me when we went.... I did have a person with me and the air conditioner was on... He was alone....

ummm....yes but some of them may outrun you...that's what this is about. No one is saying it's a great car just that some of them are faster than you think. I have one in the driveway next to my blown Z06...not bad for less than $20K.

It's sorta like one of us running with a high priced exotic and they say...ummm, it's a CHEVY.

Even though the SRT's #s sound impressive, how flat are his HP and TQ curves?

Notwithstanding, I nbelieve that those cars can be modified to run some impressive 1/4 miles times.

BTW--I ran 12.6 at 113 with my 2.3L ford motor in an 87 turbocoupe (a big heavy pig) in 90 deg weather until I wrecked the car. I regret never having a chance to fully tune the car in. I was doing this in 1997-98, before the current rice craze.

wingnut,

i am going to race him on motor, i am not going to spray him because i know i can beat him on that. i am thinking of running him from a slow 2nd gear roll. 1st gear would be useless on the crappy pilot sports

It should be a good run IF he puts out the #'s he claims. From a dead stop neither of you would get much traction. Looking forward to the outcome.

i did some research today and find out those srt-4s with the aftermarket turbos can whip a "average " stock Z06 to death. guy just turn a 11.8 @ 119 in one of those things... wow!!!!

It reminds me when I lined up with a neon (or car similar )at the drag strip. He had street tires and I had et streets so I didn't pay much attention. I thought it was a little odd when some guy was lining him up in the grooves. At the start I was practicing my launch and didn't cut a good light but noticed this car get out incredibly well for street tires. Was able to beat him to the line but he ran an 11.7x on a 1.67 60'. Apparently he had front wheel drive and twin turbos.
So.. Don't take him too lightly and post results.
