Z06 Trackside BBQ

I decided to host a BBQ last weekend at turn 7 at Blackhawk Farms and since nobody could find a grill I volunteered my car since it was already in a pit. It wasn't a problem that nobody had matches because my rotors had no trouble igniting the dry prarie grasses. It didn't take long to heat up the coals in the engine compartment and we were able to send up smoke signals to relay my final few lap times to the Timing & Scoring Tower since my transponder melted. We decided to put out the flames after 10 mintues because we couldn't find any marshmellows.

I was curious if anyone else out there has BBQed their Z06 and could offer advice for how to clean up after the party is over. I'm not sure if the engine runs anymore and a lot of the plastic parts (coolant tank, hoses, air dams, brake ducts) have partially melted. Where is the best place to get replacement parts? I was going to attempt most of the repairs because a dealer would clean my clock just coming up with an estimate.

Man, sorry to hear about that.

I would give Phoenix a call about replacement parts, they'll point you in the right direction. If you have to replace the wiring harness, it is probably going to be a PITA. I'd seriously consider taking it to Phoenix if the damage is that bad.

I know forum member Zee Freak (Brian) had an oil line burst on his Z06 in 2001 that caused a fire and forum member Track Queen (Natha) also had an oil leak turn into a fire last year. Both of them repaired their cars and made it back out to the track. They may have some lessons learned for you.

Sorry for your loss.

Blackhawk is a long drive from CT.

Corner staffing and fire protection are sometimes pretty meager at smaller events.
