Baseline 1/4 mi for C6Z

Thought I'd share...

--315 mi
--low 60s temp
--170ish coolant temp
--11.80 @ 123 w/ a 1.95 short time

I was gentle on the launch as it's still pretty new--but I was fairly aggressive on the shifts.

I'm hoping it will 'loosen up' considerably w/ some miles, as I was looking for it to trap 124-125, even w/ such low miles. IMO, there is just no way the car will trap 129-130 as others have box-stock. Picking up 6-7 MPH would be impossible--@ least @ my track.
For comparison, my ZR runs 11.70 @ 124ish on motor w/ 448 rwhp (and we know it's a good 250# heavier) @ the same track. Those 4.10 gears really get the car moving.

We won't be finding out how it progresses stock, since the car will get a baseline dyno & the mods will begin...

Re: Baseline 1/4 mi for C6Z

that is a good time, hey it was your first in it.mine was 11.9 first time out i launched at 2700 rpm no slip on clutch and speed shifted every gear.i had a little wheel hop.if ya put DR,s on it you will see under 11.5.this aint bad for a stock car that very few other cars on the street can catch.the c6 z is not too hard to launch but ya need seat time and money with DRs .things start to break.i feel the car is a better road racer than a dragger

Thx, I forgot to mention I only had 3 runs (12.2 12.1 & 11.8), and I'd never driven it hard til I got to the track.
I'm sure w/ some practice it could be whittled down to lower 11s @ my track. MPH would hopefully improve some, but nowhere near 130...

The stock F1s held decently, but DRs would definitely help ET.

One thing I will say is that the gearbox on the '08 is a lot more positive than the '06Z I had. There was an issue of going into a never-never land while missing a shift going into 3rd, kinda like a space between 3rd & 5th on the '06.

Thats some good times and good driving. I'm planning on gong out when the track opens in late March. Launch at about 2200-2500 RPM, pop the clutch and go, short shift 1st then dial it in from there. If I turn a bottom 12 the 1st time out I'll adjust and get better times.

Tanker is right bout the DR's. Hard to find a set for the C6 Z06's unless you go to C5 Z06 rims. I used BFG drag radials on my 02 Z06 because it wheel hopped so bad in 2nd. This car seems to smoke or haze the tires instead of hoppping so much. Of course lost traction means lost time.

Thx George... I only get 5-10 passes a year @ the strip, so I need to make the best of it during those few runs.
I'm worried abt the clutch in the car, as I know they glaze quickly & will leave one w/ a dropped pedal if too aggressive.

Running under a 2.00 60' times is great for a street car on street tires. I never left harder then 2500 RPM with the QS 02 Z06 w/DR's. Why break
something or go up in smoke. Bristols track is good but you have to know how to launch and each track is different. Orlando's Speed World they used VHT which helped out a lot.

I'll just stage shallow as always and pop the clutch. I never was good at riding the clutch out of the hole. I'll be content with high 11's stock anyday.

08C6Z06:

Any cutting or mods required for the K & N filter assy? Like for the MAF or anything? Or was it a simple bolt on like it looks?

$349.00 is the best price I've seen for it, K&N p/n 63-3060, www.tbymemotorsports.com.

Re: Baseline 1/4 mi for C6Z

ya can save 350.00 by opening up the shroud at the bottom about 3/4 inch.just put a spacer in their and free CAI. like the exhaust aint too much hp to be gained.now watch all the 30/75hp claims that get posted.the zr1 is using the z06 exhaust system. ive no issues with the shifter .ive missed a gear [well not missed i went fron 2 to 5] but i wasnt my fault it was bombay gin.dont slip the clutch and dont lift on a speed shift.u lift u lose

How many gears are pulling through the 1/4 mile in the LS7? My 02 Z06 pulled 4 but 4th wasn't really wound that tight at the traps. Still had more RPM's in 4th left.
