I have a 02 z06 and decided to go to the track for some baseline runs. I have a varr. intake, x pipe and catback, bfg drgs. At the track I ran a 12.03 at 116.94 not bad but I lost 5th gear in the tranny some how and the clutch was slipping bad. So I have to put a new tranny&clutch before adding any power, need some advise on what direction to go. I would like to know the best way run 10's as easy and safe a possible with out breaking the bank, this is my everyday driver. Thanks in advance.....
If you're looking for 10,s I would go with heads/cam/exhaust/ or forced induction. If you like to drag race, you're going to break stuff. Fact of life - especially if you're chasing 10's.
Send your tranny to RPM and have them rebuild it to at least a Level 5, get a Textralia or some other heavy duty clutch and a built Diff w/brace before you start cranking up the HP. For 10's you'll need close to 500 RWHP, regardless of how you get it. Spray is inexpensive and quick to install but hard on your engine internals and if you haven't built your drive line it won't be long before you break something. If you want to play, you have to pay.

I appreciate the advise, I am going to take my car to Vengeance Racing in Cumming,GA for the trans upgrade and the Textralia clutch. They recommend Kooks Lt with cats and a cam to start. Im leaning towards going naturally aspirated over forced induction, I know nitrious is hard on your car and I don't like the idea of the constant refills. Im a hard working guy and cant afford to be buying parts over and over cause of bad planning. I like the idea of naturally aspiration, I just need a direct path with the right parts.

I would say 450rwhp for 10's is plenty with the right setup.
