Twenty or so years ago I was an every weekend participant.......but of late not a lot of launching going on around here for me.
Denny,
Drag racing is just like many other things.....practice, practice.....then practice some more. But if your heart isn't in then don't sweat it. The most important thing is have fun at whatever type of drivng/racing you're doing.
Hey are you going to run novice group at the DE?? PM me back so we don't hijack.

Re: Do you race your car at the strip?
I've run couple of my previous Vettes at the strip just for fun, but after reading others posts regarding engine, clutch, pullys, belts, trans, rear end, half shafts, etc, breaking.....realize it's too expensive for me.
I ran my C-5 Z06 once for the 1/8 mile at Irwindale, CA. The times were meaningless to me, but I did know that no matter what I did it would never hook up.
Road racing is more fun for me and I think it's a lot easier on the car. No shock loads on the drive line and engine. It's all about being smooth.
I used to have fun running my restored 62 Vette once a year at the All Corvette Drags at Orange County Raceway but you could never break anything with the stock 6.70 X 15 Tires!
Yepper, just went down to Richmond Va for a Corvette Challenge this past Saturday... 93 degrees but the track hooked great.. Going back 8/11 and if the rain stays away on the 29th of this month Capitol Raceway.

C'mon Ernie, post up your time slips! We need more posts for the drag racing section! Thanks Bro, and it sounds like you had a great time!

Those are some great runs Bro! I deal with d/a's here anywhere from 6k to 12k during the summer! I feel your pain! I have a solid low 11 to high 10 sec car, but never get the "mine shaft" d/a's that your guyus get back east in the fall. Get to the track on closing day, and I'll bet good money that you will be at 10.80 or below!
P.S. scan the time slips into your computer, then upload them into a hosting service such as photobucket, (it's free), and copy and past the img tag into your post on this site. Easiest way to post photos on here too! HTH,,

Not bad for a chick in a basically stock C5 - give me more power and see what happens
Deb,
Make sure you sign up for the Drags at the fest! It's going to be alot of fun this year due to the nice cool air in mid-October! I know we are going to see quite a few personal bests this year, especially if we can get them to do some track prep!
