Hey guys...I traded in the Vette because I needed something to keep up with Ernie and the Truck won't be ready in time...so this beast should work. He may pull me out of the hole, but after the sixty foot..he will be toast !!
Check it out...I still need some tires...maybe Full Slicks !!
We ain't skeered. But I might be thinking of a little viagra (AFR 205's) for my little stock block, cam only ls6 - so you may need to get bigger pistons or something if you plan on hanging....
Hey Bro....those 205 heads will make it scream. I actually ran the 225'...don't know which flow would work better with our motors. Would love to see a back to back test. I think the 225's are probably pushing the limit on too much...but they are great if your going to build up later. They will work perfect with my new 383.

I'm not sure you want to hear about it.. Our club had an all Corvette day at a local track in Maryland.. They ask me to do a incar film of one of my runs, I did that making an easy 11.0 run.. didn't want to run it hard because I had a big event to goto the following week in Ohio.. The very next run when shifting into 3rd gear at 6800 rpms the clutch came out the car in one big puff and a lot of parts flying around.. I didn't know it at the time but the fuel line was cut and the car was on fire..
Damage, all the wiring front and rear had to be replaced, it took the starter and ramed it up into the headers, broke both ears of the back of the block, plus the starter, cut the headers in half, bell housing was gone, torque tube all the way back to the tranny was gone, fuel lines, clutch lines cut in half, had to replace some plugs and wires, brake booster, master cyl. hood liner, and hood seals, and when they took it down, they found 2 big chunks of the clutch stuck in the floor board right where my feet were.. Lets see did I miss anything??? This all happened in Sept of 06 I got the car back in April of 07 converted over to an A4.. The Dealer that I worked for at the time did all the wiring for me and did some other work and thenit went to Cartek and they did one hell of a job getting it back up, It looks stock inside down the the pedals.. although it's an FRC.. Rpm supplied the tranny and it has a TCI controller for the tranny.. The Block is a LS1 stock bore and all stock rods and pistons from the old motor, they check the crank to see if it had any problems. It has a 4400 sl converter and 3.73 rear. After tuning, it put down 471 rwhp and 402 rwtq through an A4.
Now you know the rest of the story, except for the price tag that went along with the repairs...
Ernie
Man, what a story !! That clutch thru the floor always scares me on the vette. You are lucky !! I wonder where was the weak link ? Pressure plate come unglued...or flywheel crack ??
I had a friend way back with a 67 Nova SS..all came thru the floor board and nearly took his feet off. He then added the scatter shield
471 rwhp & a 4400 stall...no wonder that damn thing is so fast.
You know...Jimbo is gonna try to stomp you now with his new motor. We better hope he can't get any traction from all the torque..LOL
I know about clutch expolsions, had one blow up on me back in '68 on a 1-2 powershift in my L-88 '66 Chevelle SS. Luckily I had an Ansen scattershield on it, but it still did ALOT of damage. Trashed the starter, flywheel and bent the flange on the crank. Blew the inspection cover off the scattershield and there were pieces of the pressure plate embedded into the pavement of the road I was on. Not pretty!
On another note, if the 418 makes the power we think it should make, and the driveline stays together, (it better), you guys are in trouble!
Don't forget the dates: Sep 11, 12, and 13. Just plan on taking the whole week off,,,,we will be in Bowling Green no later than the 10th so we can start the party early! Ya'all better be there!
Jimbo

Ernie and I have been scheeming...we will be there !!! By the way...418 minus tons of wheel spin = 300 rwhp Team PIT + ERNIE is on the way !!
We got STALL...!!
Well ya gotta look around cause we might have our butts handed to us by some other car..
Who knows, I might just have a little something for that 418..
