Last track day for 2007

Ernie, no new records this day. Didn't get clutch fixed in time so I had a bunch of missed gears and very slow shifts. 81 degrees and hot as could be.
Did get several good sixty's but couldn't bust into the 1.4's today. However, it was blue skies and lots of fun trying. Here are some vids even though I had to hit the brakes. Just practiced my sixty foot.
1st no burn-out at all, 1.693 sixty Video of 1st - Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
2nd Got busted for running 11.4 on first run. Looks like i was out of the groove & missed 2nd, 1.510 sixty

3rd, Mustang ran 10.9, I was right there with him till I had to hit the brakes, 1.513 sixty !

4th Video of Run 4 - Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
5th missed 2nd gear, 1.577 sixty Video of Run 5 - Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
6th Video of Run 6 - Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
7th a 1.579 sixtyVideo of Run 7 - Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
8th a 1.539 sixtyVideo of Run 8 - Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
9th & last run of 2007 for me, a 1.580 sixty. 81 degrees and 10 mph head wind, clutch sux.

And last is a still shot of the side walls wrinkling when i dumped the clutch.
Next track day for me will be mid January and maybe some 40 degree air. I swear I lose 50 hp in the heat...my car hates hot weather.

Good runs man, on your first pass it seems you shift to 2nd gear a bit early and messed up the run IMO? What RPM do you shift your car? What clutch do you have? How many passes did you get out of it? Does your tracks close down there cause it cant get to terribly cold down there?

Hey 10's,
You have good ears..I short shifted for some stupid reason...I was around 5900. Normally shift at 6800 (or try), limiter set at 7100. My clutch last year was a Stage 4 RPS..they had problems with it and replaced every thing for free but it is no better. My tranny is a new RPM and it shifted the same on both tranny's (before they went thru it) so that is not the problem. Every thing new and replaced so I have no clue. I probably made 50 passes on the first one and have about 15 on this new one.
Just picked up the McLeod adjustable Master but didn't get it on in time. We have one more test & tune but I am tied up and can't make it. Track just shuts down till around mid January, no clue why. Weather at worst around here is low 40's and cloudy during the day. We hit high 20's once in a while at night...never snow. Guess we will just try again next year ! Merry X-mas !!

Re: Last track day for 2007

Man that sucks, you are turning some very impressive times IMO. Your 7.1x 1/8th is indicative a serious 7.0x run in cooler weather. Your launches are pretty close too which is good. Sounds like the clutch has problem letting you shift at higher RPM. I'm still shifting my car a bit slow IMO to really know how the cars going to react once I really hammer the thing. Seems to be doing great so far with the Textralia 0700 single disc with alot of 1.5x 60fts. I'm putting my C6Z06 shifter in today and getting the car ready to put a roll bar in. I picked up a 4pt bar that resembles the DRM roll bar (Doug Rippie Motorsports) and then having a 5th point bar made to it hopefully. This will put approx 35lbs in my car of bar. That to me is FN fanstastic. All i have to do is eat right and work out a bit myself before next season and lose 20lbs and I"m ok LMAO!!!!!! I think some shifting hot laps will result in my 10sec pass. I've yet ot be able to hot lap the car. Every LS1 I've ever ran always likes a hotlap, give it maybe 20-30min cool if that and run again and the car seems to pick up. Good luck and keep us posted.

Re: Last track day for 2007

Thx.Bruce,
Keep me up on your clutch...I think Robz has a Tex also but a different one than you..would like to see how many runs you guys get and what kind of sixty's as they wear.
When you start shifting...10's will be in your hands. I noticed when someone is running right with me, they jump me a half a car in each gear I shift. Pretty sad huh ?

Re: Last track day for 2007

Now that would be fun Ernie...I would get to watch your tail lights for a quarter mile...HAHA. We will line up for a vid or two anyway.

Just so you know...our premo weather is Jan & Feb (that cold dry air comes in..I see 2 tenths improvement right away from the other months)..they shut down most of March because of the Gator Nationals. So...you have all of December and half of January to get ready. What do you tune with ??....we will have to retune yours probably. My son has HP Tuners and a good friend has EFI. Both are very good tuners..my kid got both of our vehicles down 2 tenths after the dyno tune. Possibly..We can tweak yours at the track that day after you log a couple runs..Pit

Maybe if I let the wife get some new things for the house she will let me go racing again before I sell everything
