Went to the track tonight for the 1st time in the new Z (09)
I have never seen a car do so many things at the line It would spin, wheel hop and bog, all in the same run.
I started off dropping the clutch at 4k, it bogged and hopped. I figure I need to come out harder, so I went 5k, almost the same results
I then figured a nice feather off about 3k would work, it still wasnt worth a shit. 12.95@118.7 with a 2.3 60ft We are probably at about 3200ft not facturing weather, maybe worse.
I just read rangers sticky and I will give that a try next time. Any other pointers?

No sarcasm or negativity intended but I thought the comment was funny coming from a Viper owner. Vipers being known as one of the hardest cars to launch. (PS. I owned one so I am speaking with experience)
Like others have said, you will get it down with practice. When you do, please keep us posted on how you did.

The SRTs are hard to launch, but these things are worse. I have had 5 SRTs so I got better at launching them. My TT Viper on the other hand is easy, its got a full race suspenion and drive train. It shits and gets

hi there,
with my c6z06 i tried this: start at ~2000-2500 rpm with traction "on" and when u shift from 1st to 2nd (not 4-th, LOL) press button to get into competitive mode and hope u don't miss 3-rd and 4-th gears... I got low 12's and 120 trap speed. it was pretty hot though ~95-98 F
Please also remember when running 1/4 mile to let some air out of the back tires, this should help you hook up a bit and reduce some wheel hop. My first trip to the track with my 08Z I thought was very successful. I ran an 11.98@122.09 mph with OEM tires and 15psi. And if you shift at 7000rpm you should make it through the traps in 3rd gear at 7000rpm. I never needed to shift to 4th which surprised me actually because of all the videos I have seen on Z's going down the strip, they all shifted to 4th. I was extremely happy to break into the 11's because it was my first trip to a drag strip probably since I owned 94 Mustang GT. I did own a 96 Viper RT/10 but never tracked it. Anyway, try what everyone suggests and you should fare much better. Good luck!
