New Best sixty @ Gainesville

Ernie, just got back from track. Clutch has serious issues..couldn't pull any shifts at all, pedal getting real stiff now ? I did get 2 new best 60' times today though. Ran a 1.67, 1.58, 1.52 & finally a 1.489 @ 11.53 (hit the brakes hard) 91 mph.

Re: New Best sixty @ Gainesville

I have to ask, what clutch are you using? I don't see it listed in your sig but presume it isn't stock. Great 60' nonetheless.
If that question seems out of the blue, here's why...

Re: New Best sixty @ Gainesville

Thanks. I have RPS Stage 4+ and I am having issues. New RPM Tranny and new clutch and it will not shift fast at all..same problem I had before the clutch and tranny?
I attached a copy of my slips today. I never did run a complete 1/4 because of getting flagged last week. I am # 21 on the Slip, you can see a pic of my car in the link at the top if your bored.

Pit, Sorry I have been out of town.. Nice going, you just need to get that clutch out of that car.. The only thing that might help you is a clutch Stop... but I'm not sure..

Congrats again...

Question Re: New Best sixty @ Gainesville

Thanks Guys ! Are you 2 using a McLeod Adjustable Master Cylinder or another brand (forgot, Ernie is an AUTO)? That's the only thing I haven't tried. I saw several posts where others had the high RPM shift problems. I can hold half gas till I hit redline and it shifts like glass, but put it to the floor and wind her up and it will not go in gear. pit-man

I assume you have tried replacing the clutch fluid regularly?

Yeah, about every 10 crippled runs !! All is new...alu flywheel, clutch, tranny and hyd. I know the tranny is good. It is like the clutch is not dis-engaging all the way.

Re: New Best sixty @ Gainesville

Pit,

Lets try and figure this out.. Where does the clutch grab? Where does it release? The problem I had was it released to far down, so when I tried to shift fast I didn't push the clutch down far enough to release it, Problem missed shifts.. That was with the stock slave cylinder.. Rodney told me to replace it with the McLeod unit.. I did that and no more problems untill the Big One..
Now it will make it harder to push the clutch in, but it has more volume so it takes less movement to release the clutch. Does this make any sense??

The Big One was when the Clutch came out of the car in a big mess..

Re: New Best sixty @ Gainesville

Makes perfect sense. Total Clutch engage is about 1/3 from floor... release is about 2/3 from floor, so you may be right. I will replace the master and see what happens. If I could adjust up a couple inches it may just be the answer. Thanks, will keep you informed.
I assume the "big one" didn't come thru the floor ? Pit

Re: New Best sixty @ Gainesville

Pit, Nope it didn't.. Got lucky on that one.. You should be able to adjust the McLeod unit any place you want... I had mine set so all I had to do was stab the pedal and release.

Good luck hope you get it fiexed, I want to see a good 10.xxx run out of you..
