for a 383 trapping 129 probably making 500rwhp.. spec 5 is over kill!
the 3+ will hold up just fine at that power level even with severe track launches.
Im around that power as well.. even with nitrous which will put me around 650 and alot of torque I think it will hold just fine.
Oh, well since you put it that way I'm sure sorry I threw out any suggestions, Pitt.
I've had a Mcleod twin in my car for over 15,000 miles now with no issues at all. I had plans to install a procharger on my car so I figured a good clutch would be a good idea. I never put the blower on but still make 409rwhp. Last trip to the drag strip on Nitto Drag Radials got me a 1.47 60' time with an E.T. of 11.97 @ 114

I have an Exedy Twin disk in mine and one of my friends has a McLeod Twin disk in his Z. I have driven his car and he has driven mine and we both prefer my clutch. It just seems to have a better pedal feel. Operating his clutch pedal reminds me of an old tractor or truck or something. With that said, he has never been convinced that his clutch was installed properly at the dealership so that could/would make all the difference in his never feeling right.

If this McLeod doesnt last I will talk to you more Mike. My clutch is giving me 1.47 sixty's but I am only coming out at 5000 rpm. I am starting to like it but the one inch of travel is not good. If you don't slip it perfect...it will make the car hop and you lose an instant tenth on your sixty foot. Here is an example...I went from a 1.47 to 1.57. About 1 out of 3 runs it happens.

no need to get upset. did not mean to offend you at all, I have the upmost respect for ya Mike. Anyone who has been in corvette drag racing as long as you deserves respect .
I was trying to help as well.
I love all spec products but 5 is a little harder to drive smoothly than the new full faced 3+.

I've got a RAM twin disc coming my way, hopefully in the next couple of weeks I can get it installed. Its going to be overkill for a while but I didnt want to have to change out to clutch again later when I find some more power.

You know, when I first considered the SPEC 5 I had heard the stories about how difficult it was to drive, especially in the city. Kind of an on/off switch with little play. It really wasn't that bad at all. Took a couple of days to get used to but after that it didn't seem that much different.
You could be right about overkill, but since Pitt does so spends so much time at the track, I'm not sure a little overkill is that bad.

Yes, I am very hard on my clutches trying to keep the 1.4 sixty's. This McLeod is great but very hard to master. If you don't slip it just right, your sixty is a high 1.5 instantly.
