Sub-par 1/4 Mile Time Tonight

Tonight I Ran My Stock 07 Z06 @ The Track. The Conditions Were 89 Degrees And High Humidity, But I Still Think My Stats Weren't Good Enough. I Ran A 12.840 @ 115.88 With A 2.384 60'. What Makes It Even Worse Is I Had A .073 Reaction. Also I Never Did Have To Shift To 4th @ End Of Track. Now I Know I Had Trouble Spinning Out Of The Box, But Wow The Times Are Bad And My Reaction Is Super Good. Can Someone Please Make Sense Of This And Give Me Some Ideas? I Was Truly Expecting High 11's Tonight. Please Someone With Some Pointers.
Also When Drag Racing What Setting Are People Using Traction Off, Competion? Thanks Alot!!!

Rodney, I had a similar experience a couple of days ago...Read my post in this section...Do you know what the DA was or the altitude of your track? I used T/O off in the 07, however in my 04 & 02 I used to be in comp mode...I'm sure you did not get into 4th because of the heat and the PCM pulling gobs of timing out...What temp did you go off at?

Im Not Real Sure Of The Alt. I Did Use Comp Mode Once But The Clutch Pedal Went To The Floor And Didnt Come Back Up For About 3 Seconds For Me To Shift. I Think Between The Heat And Track Conditions I Just Couldnt Make It Stick. I Raced A S2000 In The Right Lane And I Had Him By 6 Tenths Off The Line And He Ended Up With A 2.4 60' To My 2.3 60', And Those Are Tourqless! I Guees Its A Good Problem To Have Too Much Power Not Being Able To Put It Down But Man I Didnt Buy A Mustang!!!!!

You should change your clutch fluid in the resevoir...Alot of posts on here about doing so...It will probably fix your pedal on floor problem...

Check out this website for some tips. www.rangeracceleration.com.
Also talk to guys like Dr.Ron for some good track advice. You will reach your goals faster if you take advice from people who have alot of experience in what you are doing.
The type of fluid is not as critical as the maintenance of fluid and keeping it fresh.

Your R/T & 60' aren't related, FYI...

I had similar mediocre performance from my (since-sold), '06Z in similar air conditions (read: HORRIBLE!).
The car had abt 500 mi exactly, so I was only able to whittle the time down to 12.2 @ 119+ w/ a 2.0 60' time.
The air, track itself & technique have everything to do w/ your time/ET.
Keep practicing & wait for cooler temps (along w/ letting the car cool between runs) should allow for easy 11s from your car in the future...

As a rule of thumb... dropping your 60ft .1 will net .2-.3 at the end of the track. Turn your 2.3 into a 2.0 and you're knocking on 11s in crappy weather.

Practice your launches on the street (in a safe manner). Try to accelerate as fast as you can with only very minimal tire spin. Hold your clutch halfway engaged as you roll into the throttle. In other words... the clutch isn't ON/OFF only. There is a grey area. Don't completely come off the clutch until you're already on your way down the track (several feet).

Reaction time doesn't mean anything on a timed run. The timer starts when your front tires leave the beam and end when they break the beam at the other end. I can understand the e.t. not being so good but that mile per hour is way off. Make sure you run the car all the through. That's not bad for the first time at the track. It just takes practice. The best thing to do at the track is talk to the guys that race every weekend and see how they are running. They will tell you when they are down on MPH due to hot conditions, etc. or if the track isn't hooking.

Thanks For The Help. Now That I Think Of It I Was Coming Off The Line With The Clutch Out Almost Instantly, Also The Mph Aren't Good Because I Was Only Going Thru The Traps In 3rd Gear, I Would Assume This Is Due To The Heat And Humudity Not Allowing My Motor To Roll Through The Rpm's?

If you follow Rangers Launch Techniques, he clicks the button once to take off traction control. But leaves Active Handling on. This is what most of the C6Z06 racers do around these parts.

If you released the clutch "instantly" as you stated, I'd think you should have bogged off the line, not spun, unless you dumped the clutch.

The C6Z clutch can't take slipping or it falls to the floor & your run is pretty much done.

I'd suggest when you're at the track, forget reaction times until you run an organized event or you get your launch & tehcnique down pat, after MANY runs.

On street tires, drop the rear psi to 25 & bump up the fronts to 40.
Do a smallish burnout, but AVOID the water.
Get your launch rpm's set & then launch. Disregard the car in the other lane & the green light until you're ready to go. You'll need a quick release w/ accompanying quickly flooring the gas, but don't mash it.
Shift as close to redline without hitting the rev limiter & shift as fast as you can.

it takes alot of feel to get it down. Good luck & have fun! Once you get it, the car is a real beast!
