Wheel Hop

Iam having problems with wheel hop after putting a new LS 7 clutch and fly wheel. I get it on the 1st to 2nd shift. I never had it happen with the old clutch. I am running street tires at about 22lbs. I know if I go with some drag radials it would solve the problem. I was planning to go out to the strip on Oct 6 with the street tires. Any suggestions on how I should drive to aviod the wheel hop? I was thinking shifting at about 6K into 2nd, instead of 6.4k. Iam not powershifting. Thanks Brian

Re: Wheel Hop

Brian,, Give us some info about your car... Since you have a TECH... better clutch now it is working better... No surprise... You could try and short shift, and or put a set of DR'S on, but don't be surprised if you still get some Hop.. you will have to adjust the pressure some..
I know some are having problems with DR'S and have gone with an adjustable rear shock..
I would try the DR's first, see if that will help you.
Good luck, and just keep at it,, And pleasr don't forget, wheel Hop will lead to broken parts, so just lift, the run is over anyway..

My car is a 03 Z with LT headers cai and tune, also LS7 clutch. Maybe I should do a longer burnout?

Re: Wheel Hop

Brian, I don't think doing a longer burn out will help that much with street tires... I would give a set of DR'S a shot.. Do a real good smokey burn the first one, then come back a do a hazey burn, just enough to see some smoke. 4200 to 4700 rpms and ease it out.. 17 to 20 lbs

Good luck, let us know how it does..
