Who's using Hoosier Slicks....

Who's using Hoosier Slicks and a 16" CCW drag pack (16x10 wheel) on their C5 ....

What size are they (part number?)? What did you have to do to make them fit (mini tub, etc.)?

Do you like em?

...desperately seeking traction --- Stry

Re: Who's using Hoosier Slicks....

I have some 28' hoosier mounted on the CCW drag pack. Dont have to do anything to the rim but you have to take the inner fender lining out. Its only a few screws though. Otherwise it will rub wholes in them. Cant comment on if i like them or not havent run them yet

Re: Who's using Hoosier Slicks....

thanks for the replies...

Yeah Mike, I knew you (of all people) could appreciate the sheer genius of my logic - - couldn't get traction last year, so..... I added another 400 HP at the wheels - PERFECT !!!

tabratton - Are your Hoosiers the 28x14.5x16 "quick time"s I think the Hoosier part number is 17651 - ? Thanks again for the info.

Stry

Re: Who's using Hoosier Slicks....

Stry ... just google Hoosier Tires and check the list ...
Slicks are in the 18xxx series.
17xxx series are D.O.T Drag Radials
17651 is a Quick Time Pro
17651 28x14.50-16LT Q 12.0" 28.0" 88.0" 10-12" 10" 12.9" 27

Thanks Denny.

Yeah... I do not want a radial. I'm looking for bias ply for the strip.

I've found three possibilities on the Hoosier site. There is a 10" wide slick - no tread at all. There are two more "Quick Time Pro" listings that look interesting one has a 10' tread the other 12'. These have two small "treads" cut into them (like an ET Street) so they can get a DOT rating.

I'd like to be able to order the right tires the first time, so I'm hoping to get the benefit of others experience with these tires.

Thanks again everyone - I appreciate the info.

Re: Who's using Hoosier Slicks....

Stry,
I know MikesZ06 is running Hoosiers on his car. (at least he was last year).
Not sure of the size, but I bet he'll chime in here and fill ya in. When I was racing my GN, I went with a set of M&H Racemasters that hooked like crazy and I have some 1.35 short times to prove it!

Jimbo

Stry,
Car is pretty much ready, got over 1200 miles on the new motor, so break-in is pretty much over with. Still need to lean out the PE fuel trims a bit and work on driveability some more, especially with the AC on, but coming along nicely.
I also have a set of M&H racemasters in 26x12x16, but need to get a set of wider wheels for them as the 10" wide CCW classics I have for my drag pack are too narrow for them.
I hope you found a trailer and are coming to the Fest WITH your car,,,,can't wait to see and hear it run!

Jim
