2007 Z06 Autocross tires

Going to run in SS class using 18" fronts and 19" rears. Any sizes and brands recommendations?

In SS could you use the mild to wild exhaust or is this illegal? My understanding is you get to change exhaust from the cats back.

Thanks, Rouss 427

Re: 2007 Z06 Autocross tires

Do you want to be competitive?

If so, you'll want a dedicated set of track wheels and tires. Hoosier A6s are fastest in autocross. You may want to see what people who are competitive in C6Zs run as far as size. But I know the A6 to be offered in 275/35-18, 285/30-18, and 295/30-18, which I would suspect to all fit. For the rears, I think they offer both 325 and 345 in 19" sizes.

I don't know what "mild to wild" exhaust is. But you can put on any catback, which you like.

I would suggest that you go to the SCCA website and download the Solo 2 rulebook, if you have any interest in SCCA autocross. Read it all.

Re: 2007 Z06 Autocross tires

Bryan, thanks for the tire info. Definitely want to be competitive. Didn't know prior to buying 07 Z06 that C5Z is faster in autocross than C6Z.
Glad I drove the C6Z, I would never go back, the 427s power is unbelievable. I'll try a soft foot and/or a higher gear.

As far as the tires I think the 285/30 - 18 are a lower profile in Hoosiers for the fronts. Rears, I would like as wide as possible 345-19 trying to keep the car planted. If anybody is running a C6Z in autocross would be interested in their tire sizes.

Mild to Wild is an electrical device that keeps the exhaust open below 3000 rpms on the C6Z. Not trying to get more power, want a better sound for less money. Spending alot for street tires and wheels 19" fronts and 20" rears and probably buying Hoosiers and using stock wheels.
(In Pitt Road Topics - Black Z28 Turbo suggested I pull the fuse to hear the sound of my exhaust.) I think I will do this before I bring out the hacksaw on my exhaust.

Thanks, Rouss 427

The Hoosier A6 is a great tire. Good luck.

Re: 2007 Z06 Autocross tires

You might consider a more aggresive alignment as well as lowering the car a bit. The brakes on these cars are awesome took me a while to get used to being able to push the car deep in. If you check out the results from last years solo finals at Topeka you will see a few c6 up in the results. Just watch out for Elises.
Have fun !
