does lowering past stock affect "Bilstein Sport" shock performance?

I'm considering lowering the rear about 1/2 inch below stock and have new Bilstein Sport shocks all round.
Does this affect the performance of the shock?
Does it upset the balance between front/rear.
Purpose of car is very spirited autocrossing in NCCC events.

No, lowering in the rear will just increase your rear grip.

Be careful not to go too low, as the car will bottom out & your rear end cornering grip will be greatly compromised.

Bottoming out should be less of an issue with the Bilsteins than with OEM shocks. Next to my stockers, the Sports which I installed were roughly 1/2" shorter overall.

The Bilsteins will accept lowering to max using the stock hardware better than the OEM shocks. If you lower further using longer rear spring perch bolts then you will need shorter shaft and body shocks.

You CAN lower just the rear IF you maintain at least 1/2" Rake. Ie the front 1/2" lower than the rear. That is the optimum Rake for AutoX and minimum you should go.

What reference points should be used for measuring rake? Wheel arches? Rocker panels?

Re: does lowering past stock affect "Bilstein Sport" shock performance?

Thanks DJ. I didn't lower the car anyfurther. rake is set.
The car certainly is more stable on rough surfaces and acute elevation changes. for ex. there is a significant bump during a high speed turn on our local track that really upsets the chasis and the bilsteins are superior in keeping the car balanced through this area. definite improvement!
