Corvette assembly plant closing for tours

Just saw this e-mail. I feel for any of you guys that are taking delivery after November 1 as it is a wonderful part of the experience. Adam might be able to share more.
---------------

GM Corvette Assembly Plant Announcement

For security reasons, the Plant will be closing plant tours as of Thursday, November 1. This will include all tours at the usual 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. times, as well as all privately booked tours, including the Museum delivery tours. The Plant will not be
rescheduling any tours at this time.

The Corvette Plant hopes to be able to reopen tours to the public in the near future. The plant will be in production, and will only be closingtours to the public.

What a major bummer.

I take delivery of my EB Z06 on November 14th and I was really looking forward to the plant tour. The VIP tour of the plant seems like it was one of the highlights of the tour and it was part of the reason why I chose to take delivery at the museum.

Yes, it is sad to hear about this! I have toured the plant numerous times, and have also volunteered to be a guide during the annual C5 Registry event....I never get tired of watching our cars being built.

Bummer

We did not take a museum delivery, it was a trip that we were going to take in the new Z. We had planned to visit the plant and the museum.
Damn terrorists

Security Reasons, yea right. Don't you think if it were security reasons they would close tours immediatly without notice. Does delay in closing tours mean that the plant is in harms way for the next two weeks.

I think they have something else up their sleeve,

chrisj:

That is the worst thing I could possibly imagine...Nov. 2nd NCM delivery and they are cancelling it. I am sooooo sorry my friend, that is terrible. Since the NCM delivery is cancelled, can you have it sent to your local dealer for a quicker delivery than the 2nd???

Again, sorry to hear that as well as all of the other pending museum deliveries next month. Please let us know how GM plans to remedy the situation.

Take care,

Paul

My delivery wasn't cancelled. I just don't get to tour the factory when I pick up the car. The museum is still open as far as I know.

If not, then I would be more than pissed. I have already bought the car, and it is just sitting there.
Good thing that isn't the case.

Ohhhh, gotcha, so the tour is the only thing cancelled. Still a bummer though....geez, I thought they were scrapping the museum deliveries too.
