The Corvette turns 50 next year, and Corvette enthusiasts are gearing up to celebrate. Corvettes representing each of the 50 years will join together for the National Corvette Museum’s Historic Motorama

Appropriately beginning at the Corvette’s birthplace in Flint, Michigan, the Motorama will make its way to the car’s current home here in Bowling Green on June 27. Other stops along the way include the GM tech center in Warren, Michigan, and the
original site of Corvette production in St. Louis, the car’s home from 1954 - 1981. Get ready to join the anniversary celebration when the Motorama visits our plant Friday, June 28. Following a photo shoot out front with all 50 Corvettes the parade of cars will park by the underpass near the tour entrance, where our annual car show is held. Plant leadership will then welcome drivers and
passengers in the Tour Room prior to their plant tour. Next, the entire group heads for the cafeteria and a
quick lunch. Employees will get a chance to see the entire Motorama at 1 p.m. when the entire 50 car parade drives
through the plant. Look for the cars as they come in through the overhead door by DVT, take a right, and drive down the engine line aisle. The parade will then pass by the audit area and exit
through the overhead door nearby. This is the first time in the
history of the plant that a parade of Corvettes will drive through the plant. Larry Hayes of the Corvette Museum staff
said the participants will “absolutely love” the chance to drive their vehicles through the plant.

Besides the parade, employees are also welcome to get a closer look at the Corvettes when they are parked outside from about 10 a.m. to 12:45 p.m.

Other scheduled stops on the Motorama’s agenda are the Design Center in Detroit where Harley Earl and his design team sculptured the concept car that became the Corvette.

The Historic Motorama kicks off the year-long 50th Anniversary Celebration that culminates in Nashville next June. Themed “50 Years of Corvette,” the weekend includes: a Kick Off Party and Dinner on Friday Night, Banquet/Meet and Greet with Hall of Fame Inductees and VIP celebrities, a Celebrity Choice Car Show, low speed autocross and drag racing and country-side road tours.
Tours at the plant will be self-guided and open house style with student tour guides and volunteers stationed around the plant to welcome visitors and keep them on the tour route.
