EVANSVILLE, IN. - The 7th annual River City Autofest presented by
D-Patrick and hosted by Downtown Evansville, Inc. will take place
September 26-28 in Downtown Evansville. This three-day family
event is one of largest car shows in the Tri-State and was voted
the #1 Downtown special event in Indiana by Indiana Main Street.
Beginning at 2pm Friday, September 26 until the judging on
Sunday, September 28 at 1pm, the streets of downtown from
Riverside Drive to MLK Blvd. will be lined with classic Chevys,
Buicks, Cadillacs, Chryslers, Corvettes, DeLoreans, Pontiacs,
Fords, street rods, race rods, and foreign models too numerous to
list. Downtown Evansville, Inc. invites car enthusiasts to
register their prize vintage cars and the public to come enjoy
this FREE spectacular display of motor-madness!
River City Autofest draws thousands of spectators and hundreds of
show cars from around the country to the heart of Evansville. Car
enthusiasts from Arizona, Colorado, Minnesota, Wisconsin, South
Carolina, New Jersey and many other states as well as hundreds of
cars from local clubs will be in attendance. Over 400 show cars
and classics are expected to register for this year’s show.
Registration cost is $30 for car judging categories, all
cruising, and a goodie bag filled with lots of great items
including a ticket for the drawing for the $800 gift certificate
from Raben Tire to be given away on Sunday.
Casino Aztar will host a Welcoming Party for registrants who
arrive on Friday evening. This is the second year for the party
which will be held in Casino Aztar’s Events Plaza. Tickets may be
purchased at the Registration Tent for $10 each and seating is
limited to 300. The party will take place from 6pm to 8pm and
includes a delicious barbeque dinner and live entertainment.
Popular TV host of “My Classic Car” Dennis Gage will be on hand
throughout the weekend to sign autographs and congratulate the
winners at the awards ceremony on Sunday. The Dennis Gage
Treasure Hunt returns for registrants with playing cards included
in the goodie bags that can be verified at participating Downtown
businesses. Completed playing cards will qualify for a special
door prize drawing. Other activities throughout the weekend
include a Kids’ Garage, Cruise Loop, and a variety of exhibitors.
The Kids’ Garage will take place on Saturday from 10am-6pm.
Children will enjoy a variety of activities and free arts and
crafts. On Friday and Saturday evening, 400-500 registered
vehicles will parade down Main Street and along the Riverfront
for the “Cruisin’ the River Bend Loop” from 5-9pm. Vendors and
exhibitors will be located throughout downtown.
There will be plenty of good eats during Autofest. In addition to
a variety of delicious and unique Downtown restaurants, food
vendors will be serving up barbeque, hot dogs, lemonade
shake-ups, ice cream and other festival favorites at Main and
Fourth Streets. There will also be a Chili Cook-Off on Main
Street with more than 15 teams competing. You can purchase a cup
for $1 and sample all the chili you want on Saturday. It’s the
perfect fall food!
