first track day in my Z06

Well the day was very warm and the track temp was more than 100 degrees. I decided to take my C-6 Z06 to the track. It wasn't my first day at this track, California Speed Way located in Fontana Ca, I'd driven there three times in the past. I've driven it in my modified Subaru Sti coil overs, tune and intake to list a few mods. I’ve also driven my S60R with a similar setup. I drove in the intermediate group because it’s safer LOL. The morning of the event I met up with several employees of the Orange County Corvette shop. The owner Sean was gracious and reserved several garages for Corvette owners who wanted to attend the event. Sean also provide the breakfast for Champions “Glazers” as well as lunch drinks etc. Sean and his crew at Orange County Corvettes were very helpful and friendly, they're a class act. Sean not only drove a car in the event he and his team also assisted the guys who had little issues and gave advice as to upgrades and overall improvements that can be done to the Z06.
When they called my run group out to track unlike in the past I knew one thing had to not occur and that was being past by a 4-banger turbo after all the Z06 has a reputation as king of the track. My Z06 wasn’t going to be the talk of someone’s thread on another forum as "yea I passed a Z06". I didn’t take those classes at “Spring Mountain” for nothing.

Well out on the track in the morning session I passed every car on the track some more than once. The Z06 is everything it's supposes to be and more. When I went back to get my lap times, I discovered that my times weren’t posted. I was told that it was because my "timing device" was positioned horizontally instead of vertically. I think that the morning was a fastest session. Later in the afternoon I ran 1.19 as my best lap but I was really screwing up and the track was a little slick, even with that no one passed me. I only ran two and ½ sessions because I was busy talking other Corvette guys. The Z06 is everything it’s suppose to be I had no issues whatsoever and I drove with the AC on because I forgot to turn it off. I was also driving in the "competition mode" The Z06 is great the driver needs more work. I think that level 2 at Spring Mountian should enhance my skills some more.

Nice! Good to hear that more people are using this car the way it should be used

Can you tell us which track this was and how long? Thanks.

But I must say, I think you were so excited to report this that you spit it out as fast as possible with little regard to readability haha..

Thanks Oli, I didn't think that anyone saw me, maybe next time I can get to you early enough to get some assistance with the optima lines.

Ah, now I remember! You had the separate set of wheels/tires for the track, and the runcraps in a pickup truck? I think i left when you were swapping back.

Thanks for the writeup. I'm glad to see you had a great time... I'm also very jealous!
