Need motel for Watkins Glen in August...

Any recommendations? I've heard the motels close by are not very nice. I don't need anything fancy, just clean and fairly convenient to the track.

You heard correctly. I started to stay in Corning, about 20 minutes from the track. They have the standard compliment of Hotels there as well as more feeding options. Only reasonable option I found for close to track accommodations is The Falls Motel in Montour Falls.

OOPS! I got the month wrong.

It's a two day Car Guys HPDE on May 7th and 8th. I'll probably be with at least two other drivers- one with a SRF and one with a VW track-only car. It will be my first visit to WG.

Corning sounds good. A friend I haven't seen since about 1955 lives there.

I second KMag's advice.
I stayed in a no-frills Budget Inn in WG last Aug.
I can only commit to one trip and plan on going up in Aug with the Phoenix CMR group again.

Corning is the way to go.
20 minute ride, but you avoid the inbreeding!
