NJ Track is getting paved

Here's a few shots of the new track going down in Southern NJ. It's about 45 minutes from my home. Same owners as VIR.

Looking good. Nice run-off areas. Where in S. Jersey? Is it going to be a multi-use track and school?

Apparantly so. They have ambitious plans. Thier website can be found under a search for "nj motorsports park"

It's in Millville Tom, just south of Vineland.

That is a good sign. VIR is pricey but well worth it and they keep pumping money back into it.

I could actually see myself entering that state again.

Link to track website

Thunderbolt Raceway - New Jersey Motorsports Park

They have events scheduled for August 2008 already! After watching the struggle at E-town to get any sort of road course done and knowing how things seem to generally proceeed in Jersey - or ...well...not proceed I think I'm almost flabbergasted.

Re: NJ Track is getting paved

I was reading something something the layout changed and the longest circuit is 2.25 miles.

Certainly an upgrade over Pocono for the bridge and tunnel crowd and a much easier drive than LRP.

Re: NJ Track is getting paved

I have been keeping an eye on Thunderbolt and intend to put it on the calendar for this season. Certainly going back to Watkins Glen and as always VIR. I am also hearing (via investors not so much car guys) that a couple of hundred acres in upper Montgomery County Maryland is being assembled for a Motorsports Club. If NJ can do something like this, maybe the communist state of maryland could stand one?

<<<<grew up in Waldorf

I would also wonder if it's the VIR guys/investors

they will likely do well - but they need to make the $$ before all the gas is gone
