for people who used to run old Goodyear f1 gs-cs tires
Do you recall if the circumferential grooves in the Goodyear gs-cs tires were mounted towards the outside or inside of the wheel? There is no directional or other indicator.

Really? I had them mounted the other way. I wonder if it matters?! I suppose logic would state that they should be equally strong in both directions, so mounting them "wrong" shouldnt be a safety problem.. Maybe just some loss of traction.. Ugh.

Mine were mounted by a local race tire supplier with the grooves on the inside. They're toast now and I need some new tires for next season. What are you planning on replacing yours with?

I should have added that I don't think it really matters, but I am not a tire engineer and I am not an official from Goodyear... but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night.

It does not matter. According to a Goodyear Tire Tech I met at Watkins Glen.
Technically, the shadow tread is uni-directional, but that does not last long. Since you are wondering which direction to mount them, I assume the 2/32s is long gone. Mount them however looks best to you. I would remount after each two track days to try and extend their life - which is amazingly long. I tried to run them to the cords, but gave up when I moved to the Goodyear RS - only because of supply issues with the GS-CS.
I loved that tire, it slides a little, but is very predictable, and whines just a little before it gets too pissed at you.

Ok cool. I mounted them with grooves to the outside. They are a couple years old, and although they are above the second dimple mark, they felt very slippery this weekend. I'm not sure if its their age, or a heat cycle issue. Actually, its probably the 40deg weather?! ? They just felt.. hard.
I'm trying to decide whether to take them off and start fresh next season or try and get one more event out of them.... I have also run hoosier R6 and they are very sticky - track record at one event I went to. However, It would be nice if they lasted one or two more events.. They only seemed strong for 6 days or so. Perhaps I should try the Kumho which I hear have better life, but slightly less grip.

Well, they are a bit slick, and in 40 deg weather they will be more so. If you can still see dimples, you have a long way to go in their life cycle. Unless you have tons-o-cash to burn on HDPE, enjoy them then get more tires. Even if they have less grip than something else can go buy, you will learn much more on those tires.
Hey, with the money you save on tires you can buy that second set of wheels you know you want. Then, you can run tires till they are toast without risking an event. Tell me how that logic works out with the wife I'm thinking of giving it a shot myself.

I don't agree with that statement if you are comparing to V710s. I have run both back to back at WSIR and I thought the V710s worked much better. Maybe I had wrong air pressures or something on the GYs, but I was running what was recommended. Then I wore them out in the race. I did not think they wore well either....
Re: for people who used to run old Goodyear f1 gs-cs tires
Any other suggestions than the V710's? What sizes are you guys running since we can not get stock sizes. I'm reluctant to go larger because I hate a squishy sidewall. I'd almost rather have less grip.

I run the 315s all the way around on the 10" and 11" rims....
