Like No Doubt says above, you really can't get rid of the RCDLR and BCM on a street car - you won't be able to raise or lower windows, you'll have to pull your mechanical door release to open the doors, probably won't even be able to turn the headlights on and off. EVERYTHING is computerized on the C6!!!
I talked with a team that had a race-prepped C6 at an HPDE at Daytona last year. They said they had removed everything, but were still running a factory PCM and EBCM (Electronic Brake Control Module for the ABS). They had a full cage with the passenger seat removed. Their Coolsuit cooler box/thermos was secured to the floor where the passenger seat had been, and on top of that they had a Fob attached with industrial strength velcro!! So.....if you're running a factory PCM you're apparently still going to need a Fob to get the car started.
The other day at the VIR HPDE I checked out several full-race C6's. One had every factory computer removed except the EBCM. He was running a Motec so had done away with the requirement for a Fob.
Of course these race-prepped cars have no side windows and you either need to reach in and pull the mechanical door release down on the floor or a couple had cables run up to the halo for emergency crews to access the cockpit.
Like No Doubt said - not something you can do to a car and still be able to drive it on the street!
As long as the RCDLR and BCM are in the car you're going to have the TPMS to deal with.
Actually, one well known shop that prepares race cars was talking on another forum about reprogramming the BCM to do away with the TPMS. They were wondering how many owners would like to do away with it - if enough were interested they would hire a computer whiz and try to break into the proprietary GM code to rewrite it. They figured $20,000 to hire somebody, then they could provide new BCM units for maybe $1,500. They also said it would probably cost in the neighborhood of $1,000 to replace the BCM. I haven't heard any news lately.
Congress passed a federal law several years ago that required as of last September with the 2008 model year, ALL 4-wheeled vehicles less than 10,000 lbs MUST have tire pressure sensors and a TPMS. I guess it's sorta like running with no Cats in a non-emission state - nobody will probably ever know if you don't have them, but it is federal law that you are supposed to have Cats and sensors on a street car.
