I installed them for a friend when he bought a big screen TV. They certainly sound good but I don't like the price.
Thanks Ed, I'm not crazy about the price but the sound and size is what I'm looking for. I didn't want huge speakers. It's not that big of a room... 14 x 20

Re: Anybody own Bose Acoustimass® 10 Speakers
Sorry Tom,
I'm not going to be any help, but I have a NIB system in the closet.
My sister was going to up grade to a 60" DLP a year ago and other things came up and it hasn't happened yet!!
I've never hooked it up because my rooms are too small and my receivers are old analog Kenwood and Pioneer units. The pioneer has coaxial 5.1 output but I wasn't going thru the trouble for a 32" Mitsu CRT!! I've go a 37" LG LCD in my computer room.........
I'll watch this thread to see what I'm missing!!
I have the Acoustimass 15 system for my 5.1 surround. They sound great with movie sound tracks but I don't think they are so good with just music. (Maybe I'm just getting older and the hearing isn't as good as it used to be)

I am not a fan of Bose speakers. They dont reproduce the mids very well. I like to hear as much as I can from the original transmission. I follow the THX standards which Bose does not meet.
I understand if you dont have space, perhaps it is a compromised. Anyway, good luck.
Steve, Thanks. I was wondering how the Mid Range sounded because of the size and we also are big Music Listeners so I may have to reconsider as I also see Blue Blood and Juan have the same issue with them... Back to the drawing board.. Well have one thing set I am getting the "Onkyo TX-SR705"
any thoughts?
I have Bose on steroids.
Damn if I even joked about that(having Bose) on the audio forums I would be banished.
Check out Best Buy and see if they still have the Insignia bookshelf speakers.
If they do, scoop them quick and buy your choice of subwoofer to go with them.
The Insignia's are known to the audio crowd as the Corvette of speakers. O.k. maybe there not that good but they are probably one of the best kept secrets out there.
Otherwise audio retailers some who have honest money back guarantees like Axiom audio who will take back what you bought if you don't like them are great for the starter stuff.
Mike
If you need anymore help there are a few of us here who freaquent the audio forums who can suggest more if you like.
Btw. Insignia's were last priced at $80-100 for the pair. Buy 2 pairs(front and rear) a good center(very important for movie dialogue) cross them over in your receiver at 80hz to your sub and your done.
Btww. You could skip the center and use your fronts as a phantom center, which works well enough for most people.
The Insignias are on sale at BB for $72.
Here is the link if you are interested. www.bestbuy
And for the grand you spend on Bose you could have this 5.1 system from SVS sound who make amazing subs and now speakers.
This is what I would get. www.svsound

Onkyo has announced four new THX Certified receiver models to be introduced beginning this spring, incorporating a range of high-end features and core performance improvements designed to deliver the highest levels of performance available. These new THX Certified Onkyo A/V receivers will feature HDMI 1.3a compatibility, including internal decoding for DTS-HD, Dolby TrueHD and Dolby Digital Plus. Each will also feature a sophisticated set of internal video processing capabilities, with two of the models boasting the first inclusion of Reon-VX HQV processing in an A/V receiver. Three of the new models, the TX-SR805, the TX-SR875, and the TX-NR905, each feature THX Ultra2 certification, while the TX-SR705 is THX Select2 Certified.
