The S & P (Standard & Poor) 500 is an index (value-weighted) of 500 widely traded large cap stocks in the Stock Market.
After reaching highs of over 1500 in late 2007, the S & P index plummeted down just like the Dow Jones industrial Index (as well as all other stock market measuring tools), hitting a low of about 680 in mid-March of this year. As Juan pointed out however, the S & P has made huge gains in the second quarter back into the 920 range.
What he means is the Market is coming back and the second quarter gains were huge compared to past history.
Hang in there Zippy, it has been a rollocoaster for some of us, hopefully we get some momentum up. I am sure there are going to be some downward corrections, we will live through those too.
