Interesting Politix stuff

I got this in an email. Interesting read, take it for what its worth. Enjoy!

In Just One Year:

This email comes in three parts.

Part 1:
In just one year. Remember the election in 2006?
Thought you might like to read the following. A little over one year ago:

1) Consumer confidence stood at a 2 1/2 year high;

2) Regular gasoline sold for $2.19 a gallon;

3) The unemployment rate was 4.5%.

Since voting in a Democratic Congress in 2006 we have seen:

1) Consumer confidence plummet;
2) The cost of regular gasoline soar to over $3.90 a gallon;
3) Unemployment is up to 5% (a 10% increase);
4) American households have seen $2.3 trillion in equity value evaporate (stock and mutual fund losses);
5) Americans have seen their home equity drop by $1.2 trillion dollars;
6) 1% of American homes are in foreclosure.

America voted for change in 2006, and we got it !

Remember it's Congress that makes law not the President. He has to work with what's handed to him.

Quote of the Day........'My friends, we live in the greatest nation in the history of the world. I hope you'll join with me as we try to change it.' -- Barack Obama

Part 2:
Taxes...Whether Democrat or a Republican you will find these statistics enlightening and amazing.
The Tax Foundation - U.S. Federal Individual Income Tax Rates History, 1913-2008

Taxes under Clinton 1999 Taxes under Bush 2008
Single making 30K - tax $8,400 Single making 30K - tax $4,500
Single making 50K - tax $14,000 Single making 50K - tax $12,500
Single making 75K - tax $23,250 Single making 75K - tax $18,750
Married making 60K - tax $16,800 Married making 60K- tax $9,000
Married making 75K - tax $21,000 Married making 75K - tax $18,750
Married making 125K - tax $38,750 Married making 125K - tax $31,250
Both democratic candidates will return to the higher tax rates.

It is amazing how many people that fall into the categories above think Bush is screwing them and Bill Clinton was the greatest President ever. If Obama or Hillary are elected, they both say they will repeal the Bush tax cuts and a good portion of the people that fall into the categories above can't wait for it to happen. This is like the movie The Sting with Paul Newman; you scam somebody out of some money and they don't even know what happened.

PART 3:

You think the war in Iraq is costing us too much?

Read this:
Boy am I confused. I have been hammered with the propaganda that it is the Iraq war and the war on terror that is bankrupting us. I now find that to be RIDICULOUS. I hope the following 14 reasons are forwarded over and over again until they are read so many times that the reader gets sick of reading them. Re: Interesting Politix stuff

I'm not going to get into a political debate here...this is a car forum and I come here for info on cars, not politics. But, I have to point out one thing and again this is not to start an arguement, but to call attention to the contridiction in the arguement that the email lays out.

To quote; "Remember it's Congress that makes law not the President. He has to work with what's handed to him."

The email references Clinton's 1999 taxes. Well, if we stay withe the argument that, "Remember it's Congress that makes law not the President. He has to work with what's handed to him."

You do know that under Clinton, the Republicans had majority control over both the house and senate.

104th Congress (95-97) House: Democrates accounted for 204, Republicans 230, Ind for 1. Senate: Democrates 48, Republicans 52.

105the Congress (97-99) House Democrates 206, Republicans 228, Ind 1
Senate: Democrates 45, Republicans 55.

Even in 2006, the Democrates did technically when the majority, but it wasn't enought to break a tie or a filibuster.

Be careful how you word your arguments.

Z0fritz, nice observation you made.
However, if you re-read how I started the post, I mentioned that I got this in an email, and "take it for what its worth". Its not my arguement brother, its an email that i found as entertaining as it is interesting.

Of course you do realize that the Congress has not been democrat dominated during the entire Bush Presidency dont you? You do know that the majority of the tax cuts that are reflected in the email I copied were implemented during a Republican congress right?
Be careful how you word your arguments.

Re: Interesting Politix stuff

Well, I wasn't really making an arguement just pointing out the 1999 reference. To be fair, I know you weren't making the argument either...I have seen that email a million times and I should have worded my last sentence differently. I just don't like that email because it looks accurate on the surface, but there is a lot going on there that is not explained by that email. It was nothing personaly towards you. I have studied politics for long time and try to stay out of political debates for the most part, but sometimes I can't help myself. I could go on and on for days, but again...this a Z06 forum not a right versus left. Anyway, I enjoy the exchange.

I agree, since Dems took over Congress it's been a mess. Some say it's just coincidence. I don't think so.

Re: Interesting Politix stuff

It is sad but our politicians care little about our country and lots about benefits to them. Why is Nancy Pilosi so opposed to drilling? Check out her involment with Boone Pickins and his wind and natural gas ventures.Congress has the lowest approval rate in history. How many incumbents will get the boot? Remember how every other day Haliburton was getting bashed because Chaney used to be CEO. Nothing recently. Why? Maybe it is because George Soros took a major stake. What Democrat wants to pi$$ off move on.org. Ask an Obama supporter what he has accomplished. They don't care if he is qualified. He is for change! Our choices get worse and worse.

THE BUSH RESUME

I will be available in January 2009, am willing to relocate.

( Please don't skip the last section !)

RESUME

GEORGE W BUSH
1600 Pennsylvania Avenue
Washington, DC 20520

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Law Enforcement:
I was arrested in Kennebunkport, Maine, in 1976 for driving under the
influence of alcohol. I pled guilty, paid a fine, and had my driver's
license suspended for 30 days. My Texas driving record has been "lost" and
is not available.

Military:
I joined the Texas Air National Guard and went AWOL. I refused to take a
drug test or answer any questions about my drug use. By joining the Texas
Air National Guard, I was able to avoid combat duty in Vietnam.

College:
I graduated from Yale University with a low C average. I was a cheerleader.

PAST WORK EXPERIENCE:

I ran for U.S. Congress and lost.

I began my career in the oil business in Midland Texas , in 1975. I bought
an oil company, but couldn't find any oil in Texas. The company went
bankrupt shortly after I sold all my stock.

I bought the Texas Rangers baseball team in a sweetheart deal that took land
using taxpayer money.

With the help of my father and our friends in the oil industry (including
Enron CEO Ken Lay), I was elected governor of Texas.

ACCOMPLISHMENTS AS GOVERNOR OF TEXAS:

I changed Texas pollution laws to favor power and oil companies, making
Texas the most polluted state in the Union. During my tenure, Houston
replaced Los Angeles as the most smog-ridden city in America.

I cut taxes and bankrupted the Texas treasury to the tune of billions in
borrowed money.

I set the record for the most executions by any governor in American
history.

With the help of my brother, the governor of Florida , and my father's
appointments to the Supreme Court, I became President of the United States,
after losing by over 500,000 votes.

ACCOMPLISHMENTS AS PRESIDENT:

I am the first President in U.S. history to enter office with a criminal
record.

I invaded and occupied two countries at a continuing cost of over one
billion dollars per week.

I spent the U.S. surplus and effectively bankrupted the US. Treasury.

I shattered the record for the largest annual deficit in U.S. history.

I set an economic record for most private bankruptcies filed in any 12-month
period.

I set the all-time record for most foreclosures in a 12-month period.

I set the all-time record for the biggest drop in the history of the U.S.
stock market In my first year in office, over 2 million Americans lost their
jobs and that trend continues.

I'm proud that the members of my cabinet are the richest of any
administration in U.S. history. My "poorest millionaire, " Condoleezza Rice,
has a Chevron oil tanker named after her.

I set the record for most campaign fund-raising trips by a U.S. President.

I am the all-time U.S. and world record -holder for receiving the most
corporate campaign donations.

My largest lifetime campaign contributor, and one of my best friends,
Kenneth Lay, presided over the largest corporate bankruptcy fraud in U.S.
history, Enron.

My political party used Enron private jets and corporate attorneys to assure
my success with the U.S. Supreme Court during my election decision.

I have protected my friends at Enron and Halliburton against investigation
or prosecution. More time and money was spent investigating the Monica
Lewinsky affair than has been spent investigating one of the biggest
corporate rip-offs in history. I presided over the biggest energy crisis in
U.S. history and refused to intervene when corruption involving the oil
industry was revealed.

I presided over the highest gasoline prices in U.S. history.

I changed the U.S. policy to allow convicted criminals to be awarded
government contracts.

I appointed more convicted criminals to my administration than any President
in U.S. history.

I created the Ministry of Homeland Security, the largest bureaucracy in the
history of the United States Government.

I've broken more international treaties than any President in U.S. history.

I am the first President in U.S. history to have the United Nations remove
the U.S. from the Human Rights Commission.

I withdrew the U.S. from the World Court of Law.

I refused to allow inspector's access to U.S. "prisoners of war" detainees
and thereby have refused to abide by the Geneva Convention.

I am the first President in history to refuse United Nations election
inspectors (during the 2002 US election)

I set the record for fewest numbers of press conferences of any President
since the advent of television.

I set the all-time record for most days on vacation in any one-year period.
After taking off the entire month of August, I presided over the worst
security failure in U.S. history

I garnered the most sympathy ever for the U.S. after the World Trade Center
attacks and less than a year later made the U.S. the most hated country in
the world, the largest failure of diplomacy in world history.

I have set the all-time record for most people worldwide to simultaneously
protest me in public venues (15 million people), shattering the record for
protests against any person in the history of mankind

I am the first President in U.S. history to order an unprovoked, preemptive
attack and the military occupation of a sovereign nation. I did so against
the will of the United Nations, the majority of U.S. Citizens and the world
community.

I have cut health care benefits for war veterans and support a cut in duty
benefits for active duty troops and their families in wartime.

In my State of the Union Address, I lied about our reasons for attacking
Iraq and then blamed the lies on our British friends.

I am the first President in history to have a majority of Europeans (71%)
view my presidency as the biggest threat to world peace and security.

I am supporting development of a nuclear "Tactical Bunker Buster," a WMD.

I have so far failed to fulfill my pledge to bring Osama Bin Laden to
justice.

RECORDS AND REFERENCES:

All records of my tenure as governor of Texas are now in my father's
library, sealed and unavailable for public view.

All records of SEC investigations into my insider trading and my bankrupt
companies are sealed in secrecy and unavailable for public view.

All records or minutes from meetings that I, or my Vice-President, attended
regarding public energy policy are sealed in secrecy and unavailable for
public review. I specified that my sealed documents will not be available
for 50 years.

Its all good. No worries. It was the first time I had seen the email. Thought it would provide some good discussion. But, youre right, this is a car forum not a poltix forum. On the other hand, its hard not to talk about the political situation in the misdt of a Presidential election year.

Wow, you're a little bitter and defensive of your democrat friends arent you. I'm sure you can back up your assertions with factual evidence........Interesting perspective you have on President Bush's past. I cant help but wonder what it may look like if you spent as much time providing smiliar analyses of Obamas past, or Clintons past......

Re: Interesting Politix stuff

You don't need to be a Democrat (for what it's worth, I'm a Libertarian) to realize what an absolute trainwreck and embarrassment the past 7.5 years have been. He was incompetent from the moment the neocons and evangelicals propped him up and went downhill from there. Apparently almost 70% of the country agrees with me based upon his ski slope of approval ratings. Just my 4 cents... (price doubled in order to keep pace with big oil).

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. I'm sure you think your IL senator will be savior of the nation. Talk about a JOKE!

As far as the gas prices going up because of "big oil", thats bullshit and you know it. "Keep pace with big oil"???? How so? Well, lets just tax the shit outta the oil CO profits like the idiot senator from IL wants to and then see what happens to the price of gas.
