I got the news last night that my good friend of 32 years died last night. It was not unexpected, he was diagnosed with cancer about three and half years ago. At that time one doctor gave him six months to live.
I meet Mike when we bought our first trucks together and started in the household goods moving business. He was driving a 69 SS 396/375hp Chevelle at the time. It was only natural that we hooked up.
He had already had his first Corvette, a 67 but had to sell it to get into trucking.
As he got the funds he bought many Corvettes and other nice cars over the years. His whole live was around trucking and cars. He was with me when I bought my 69 Corvette, and I still have that car about 30 years later.
He was really excited when I bought the Z06. Even though he was not feeling well he came to Putnam Park for the ZFest to be a part of that. He was not feeling well enough to go the Bowling Green.
sorry for your loss.

Thanks for sharing, David ... and please extend my condolences to the family of a fellow Corvette enthusiast. I will include him and them in my prayers.
We don't choose our family; we choose our friends, and their loss cuts more deeply at times ...
Take care,
Denny

Thanks All...
My wife and I will be leaving Friday to drive to Indiana for the funeral on Saturday. We'll be driving the Z of course.
What's really sad he was young at 56.
You never know what you'd do until it actually happens to you. I mean Mike continued to live out his life doing what he wanted to do, drive his truck and play with his cars and go to car shows. I've often said I'd buy me a new Z06 and drive the wheels off it until I couldn't drive anymore. and let GMAC pry my cold dead hands off the steering wheel when they repo'ed it.
So sorry for your loss David! Prayers go out to you and his family. I feel your pain as I lost one of my closest friends to a horrible motorcycle wreck back in '99. A day does not go by when I don't think of him and miss him terribly. Losing him was the hardest thing I have ever been through!
Keep him in your thoughts always and he will always be alive in your heart!
